Purge test runs

You can purge test runs to permanently delete multiple test runs no longer in use in your project. Purging test runs regularly helps reduce the project size.

Note: You can only purge test runs. You cannot purge test set runs or build verification suite runs.

Prerequisites

Prepare for the following before purging test runs:

Required permission

To purge test runs, you must have the Run > Delete permission.

For details, see Manage user groups and permissions.

(Optional but recommended) Back up your project We recommend you back up your project before purging test runs in case you want to restore data.

Purge test runs from Test Lab module

From the Test Lab module, you can purge specified runs of all or selected test sets.

To purge test runs from the Test Lab module:

  1. Do one of the following:

    Action Details
    To purge test runs of all test sets

    In the Test Lab module, from the Test Sets menu, select Purge Runs.

    To purge test runs of selected test sets
    1. In the Test Lab module, from the test set tree, select the target test sets or test set folders.

      Note: Select either test sets or test set folders. You cannot select both test sets and test set folders at the same time.

    2. From the Test Sets menu, select Purge Runs for Selected.

  2. In the Choose Type of Purge window, specify the run criteria and click Next.

    Description

    Delete

    Includes the following options:

    Runs. Deletes test run results.

    Run Steps Only. Deletes run steps but keeps the overall run details.

    From runs older than

    The time before which you want to delete the data from the selected run.

    Number of runs per test to keep

    The number of test run results to keep for each test.

    Purge draft runs only

    Purges only runs marked as Draft Run. For details on draft runs, see Draft runs.

  3. In the Confirm Purge Request step, review a summary of your request and confirm the purge.
  4. Click Finish.

    The purge task starts to run in the background.

Purge test runs from Test Runs module

From the Test Runs module, you can purge test runs that meet the specified criteria.

To purge test runs from the Test Runs module:

  1. In the Test Runs module, from the Test Runs menu, select Purge Runs.

  2. In the Choose Type of Purge step, specify the run criteria and click Next.

    For details about run criteria, see Specify run criteria.

  3. In the Confirm Purge Request step, review a summary of your request and confirm the purge.
  4. Click Finish.

Monitor purge tasks status

Purge tasks run in the background. You can view the status and progress of purge tasks from ALM Task Manager.

To monitor purge status:

  1. On the masthead, click and select Task Manager.

  2. To filter purge tasks, click Filter. In the Type criterion, select PurgeRunsTask.
