Customer management

Available for: SaaS only

The Customers tab in Site Administration enables you to create and manage customers.

Note: Options in this tab vary according to the permission level.

Overview of customers

A customer is an ALM SaaS environment. ALM SaaS contains the following types of customers.

  • Owner customer: Customers that can have child customers.

  • End customer: Customers that cannot have child customers.

Switch between customers

From the Site Administration masthead, you can see what the active customer is and which customer you belong to, and you can also switch to another customer.

Active Customer. Displays the current customer.

My Customer. Displays the customer where the logged in user belongs.

To switch to another active customer:

  1. Click the active customer name to open the Change Active Customer dialog box.

  2. In the Active Customer field, select the customer to which you want to switch.

  3. Click OK.

Manage customers

Owner customer admins can create, activate, deactivate, and delete end customers.

Action Details
Create a customer

To create an owner customer, click New Owner.

To create an end customer, click New End Customer.

Delete a customer

To delete a customer:

  1. In the Customers list, hover over the customer you want to delete.

  2. Click the Delete button and click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.

You cannot delete a customer that owns projects or end customers.

Activate/Deactivate a customer

To activate or deactivate a customer:

  1. In the Customers list, select the customer you want to activate or deactivate.

  2. To deactivate the customer, click Deactivate Customer.

    To activate the customer, click Activate Customer.

View or edit customer attributes

In the Attributes tab of a customer, you can view information about the customer and add recipients to the SaaS notification system.

Permission:

To view customer details, you should be site admin or customer admin, or have one of the following permissions:

  • Customers > View Customer Attributes

  • Customers > Update Customer Attributes

To edit customer details, you should be site admin or customer admin, or have the Customers > Update Customer Attributes permission.

Customer attributes

The following table describes the attributes of a customer:

UI Element Description
General section
Name The customer name.
Tenant ID The customer ID.
Status

The customer status. The status can be active or inactive.

If a customer is inactive:

  • All its projects are inactive.
  • If it is an owner customer, all its end customers are inactive.
  • None of its users are allowed to log in.
License Expiration Date

The license expiration date. Click the date button to select the expiration date.

Note:

  • To edit license expiration date of the child customers under your customer, you should have the Update Descendant Customer License permission.

  • To view license expiration date of your customer and child customers, you should have the View Customer License permission.

Projects Limit

The number of projects limited to this customer.

If you set the value to -1, the customer can have an unlimited number of projects.

Note:

  • To edit projects limit of the child customers under your customer, you should have the Update Descendant Customer License permission.

  • To view projects limit of your customer and child customers, you should have the View Customer License permission.

Statistics section
Number of Domains The number of domains that belong to the customer.
Number of Projects The number of projects that belong to the customer.
Number of Users The number of customer users that are currently defined in the system.
Quality Insight section
Enable Quality Insight

Enables or disables Quality Insight for the customer.

Note:

  • Only site administrators can enable or disable Quality Insight for a customer.

  • You can enable Quality Insight for a customer only when it is enabled at the site level. For details, see Quality Insight.

  • If the customer is an end customer, you can enable Quality Insight only when it is enabled both at the site level and at the owner customer level.

Recipients from SaaS Notification System section
New Recipients

Opens the New Recipient dialog box, enabling you to add a new recipient to the SaaS notification system.

To add a recipient:

  1. Type the recipient name and at least one email address.

  2. Click Save. The new recipient is displayed in the table.

Recipient Name The name of the recipient.
Email Address The email addresses of the recipient.
Actions Click Edit to edit a recipient. Click Delete to delete the recipient.

Map customer to IDP

In the Customer IDP tab, you can map a selected active customer to an IDP ID.

Note: Available when SSO authentication is enabled. For details, seeSet up SSO authentication.

To map an IDP to a customer, you should be site admin or customer admin, or have the Customers > Update Customer Attributes permission.

Customer Name: Select an active customer.

IDP ID: Enter the IDP ID to map to the selected customer.

Map customer to LDAP server

From the Customer LDAP tab, you can map a selected active customer to an LDAP server.

Note: Available when LDAP authentication is enabled in Site Administration. For details, see Import users from LDAP.

To map an LDAP server to a customer, you should be site admin or customer admin, or have the Customers > Update Customer Attributes permission.

Customer Name: Select an active customer.

IDP ID: Select an LDAP server to map to the selected customer.
