Test Details Dialog Box

The Test Details dialog box enables you to view and update a single test.

To access
  1. On the ALM sidebar, under Testing, select Test Plan.

  2. Right-click a test, and select Test Details.

User interface elements are described below:

UI Element


Save. Saves the details.
Pin/Unpin Test. Pins or unpins the test.

Flag for Follow Up. Opens the Flag For Follow Up dialog box, enabling you to define a follow up flag for the test. For details, see Flag For Follow Up Dialog Box.

Send by Email. Sends an email with the test details. For details, see Send E-mail Dialog Box.

Send an IM. Opens the Select IM Participants dialog box, enabling you to send an IM to selected users. For details, see How to Send Instant Messages from ALM.

Spell Check. Checks the spelling for the selected word or text box.

Thesaurus. Displays a synonym, antonym, or related word for the selected word.

Spelling Options. Enables you to configure the way ALM checks spelling.

Field Search. Enables you to search for a specified field name. Supports wildcard search with asterisk "*" and question mark "?".

For example: a*b returns acb and adefb; a?b returns acb


Lists the test fields. For details on test fields, see Test Plan Module Fields.

Tip: Clicking in the Description or Comments field in this tab displays a toolbar for formatting and spell checking the text.

Design Steps

Lists the instructions on how to execute the selected test. For details, see Design Steps Tab/Design Step Details Dialog Box.

Not available for: Business Process Testing

Test Script

For automated tests: The test script that is run by the testing tool for the currently selected test. For user interface details, see Test Script Tab.

For business process tests and flows: The components and flows that are run for the currently selected business process test, or the components that are run for the currently selected flow. For user interface details, see the Micro Focus Business Process Testing User Guide: Test Script Tab for Business Process Testing.


Lists parameters associated with the currently selected test. Parameters can be incorporated in the test's design steps. For details, see Parameters Tab/Parameters Dialog Box.

Test Configurations

Displays configurations of a selected test. For details, Test Configurations Tab.


Lists attachments that provide additional information about the currently selected test. For details, see Attachments Page.

Req Coverage

Lists the requirements that are met by the currently selected test. For details, see Req Coverage Tab.

Linked Defects

Lists the defects linked to the currently selected test. For details, see Linked Defects/Entities Page.


Displays dependency relationships that exist between entities such as test resources and tests. For details, see Dependencies Tab.

Business Models Linkage

Lists the business process model entities that are linked to the selected test. For details, see Business Models Linkage Tab.


Display criteria of a selected business process test. For details, see Criteria Tab.


Lists changes made to the currently selected test. For details, see History Tab.
