What's new in ALM 15.0.1 Patch 6

The following new features and enhancements were added in ALM 15.0.1 Patch 6:

  • Support Windows 11.
  • Internet Explorer is no longer supported in Web Runner. For details, see System requirements.
  • ALM Client Launcher 4.2 is shipped with ALM. When accessing the qcbin page with a browser other than Internet Explorer, you can start ALM Client directly with ALM Client Launcher or be forwarded to its download page.
  • The Test Board tab is available when the Enterprise Integration extension is enabled for your project. For details, see Test Board Tab.

What's new in ALM 15.0.1 Patch 3

ALM Test Runs Injection for Octane enables you to run tests in ALM and automatically inject test sets and test runs from ALM to ALM Octane.

SSO Authentication

Includes the following updates:

  • Enable local authentication in SSO mode
  • Enable single-sign-out
  • Support OIDC as the federation protocol
  • Enhance the auto user-provisioning process to find matching ALM users using specified attributes

  • Send SSO validation URL to IdP users to validate the SSO configuration
  • Import IdP users to ALM via CSV files

Web Runner

Includes the following updates:

  • Customize defect and run entities in Web Runner and apply template customization updates to multiple projects.

    Note: Available for ALM Edition only.

  • View favorite defect views set in ALM.
  • Disable Web Runner at a project level.

Sharing Dashboards and Reports as Templates Across Projects

Dashboards and reports can now be shared as templates across projects. The property fields of the shared data cannot be edited. However, you can modify the graph filter, X- and Y-axes fields, Group by field, appearance, etc.

The following entities can be shared across projects:

  • Dashboard and Analysis folders
  • Entity graphs reports
  • Pages and health reports in the Dashboard View

Note:

  • Business view graphs are not supported.
  • This feature is available for ALM Edition only.

SaaS updates

New SaaS roles. When setting a role in the User Management page, the Set Role list also includes the following predefined roles:

  • Basic User. This role includes viewer permissions.

  • Customer Admin. This role includes all of the customer permissions.

ALM AutoPass License Server updates

Includes the following updates:

  • No longer in technical preview.
  • After installing a license, you can now apply license for the product features in the Product Feature tab.

Health reports updates

The following reports are now available:

  • Failed Tests without Defects. Shows failed test instances without direct or indirect link defects.
  • Test Summary. Shows the number and percentage of test instances according to their status.

  • Global Search

    Includes the following updates:

    • You can install Global Search on a virtual machine with 4GB memory.
    • For increased security, you can now use API key to connect to the ALM server.

    • You can now add server to server authentication using a LWSSO token.

    Site Administration REST API

    Includes the following updates:

    • Import ALM Lab Extension enabled projects. When importing a project from QCP file, if you want to import an ALM Lab Extension enabled project, set the skip-lab-projects-validation value to Y. For details, see Import a project from QCP file.

    • Define LDAP information when creating new users. When working with LDAP, you can use user-auth-data to define LDAP information when creating a user. For details, see Create a site user.

    What's New in ALM 15.00

    This section provides an overview of the features that were introduced or enhanced in ALM 15.00.

    SSO Authentication

    SSO access to ALM can be authorized in a federated environment. Users can use single sign-on for logging into ALM as they do with other SSO applications at the site. For details on how to facilitate single sign-on, see Setting up SSO Authentication (for ALM 15.00).

    If you use Siteminder for user authentication, we recommend you switch to use the SSO authentication solution.

    Web Runner Web Runner is a manual test execution tool. It enables you to run manual tests and submit defects to ALM from a Web browser, without the need to download the ALM client. After completing your test runs, the test results along with any submitted defects are automatically synchronized to ALM. For details, see Web Runner help.
    Site Administration REST API Reference

    This new guide provides a complete online reference for the newly added Site Administration REST-based API. Use the REST API to access and work with ALM data in Site Administration. For details, see Site Administration REST API Reference.

    ALM AutoPass License Server (technical preview)

    The AutoPass License Server (APLS) helps you organize and manage ALM licenses, by providing better visibility and control over license consumption.

    For details on how to install and manage licenses in APLS, see Managing AutoPass License Server.

    Dashboard module
    • Health reports. The ALM health report provides an out of the box set of key metrics that will help you to gain visibility and control of your project’s progress and health. For details, see Health Reports.
    API Keys

    API Key expiration time. By default, API Keys do not expire unless revoked. To set an expiration time, you can define the APIKEY_EXPIRE_DAYS site parameter. For details, see How to Manage API Keys.

    BPT

    Transpose button. This option enables you to switch the data table to have parameter rows and iteration columns.

    Available from Test Plan module > Test Configurations tab > Data tab for static configurations.

    ALM Help Center Enhancements
    • User Help menu. In addition to ALM help, now includes BPT and Web Runner.
    • Integrations menu (new). Includes online help for Excel, Word, BV Excel, and MSI Generator. Also includes catalogs of add-ins and integrations.
    • Admin Help menu. Now includes SaaS Administration.
    • Developer Help menu. Previously called Advanced Help. Now itemizes the various API references for easy navigation.
