Modifying Licenses

In the Status tab, you can modify licenses and launch the Micro Focus Licensing portal to retrieve licenses.

To modify licenses:

  1. In Site Administration, click the Licenses tab.

  2. Click the Status tab.

    The Status tab includes the following UI elements:

    UI Element

    Description

    Refresh. Refreshes the screen.

    Enables you to modify licenses by selecting one of the following: 

    Upload License. Opens the Upload License dialog box, enabling you to browse for and select a license file.

    Paste License. Opens the Paste License dialog box, enabling you to paste the license key into a text box.

    Clear License. Opens a confirmation dialog box that verifies whether you want to clear all the installed licenses and their assignments.
    Hides expired licenses in the table.
    Opens the Micro Focus Licensing portal in a new browser, enabling you to purchase licenses.

    License Name

    The ALM module name.

    Named

    Indicates whether the license is a named license assigned to a specific user.

    Expiration Date

    The expiration date of the license.

    In Use

    The total number of licenses in use.

    Max

    The maximum number of available licenses.

    Edition

    Indicates the ALM edition installed. For details, refer to the Micro Focus Application Lifecycle Management User Guide: ALM Editions.

    Model

    Indicates the license type. Possible values are:

    CONCURRENT. A license that allows perpetual usage of the purchased licenses until the license expiration date.

    PPU. A license that allows a month of actual usage of the purchased licenses. Used licenses expire at the end of the month in which they were used.

  3. Click the arrow next to Modify Licenses.

  4. Select Upload License or Paste License.

    • Select Upload License to open the Upload License dialog box, enabling you to modify licenses by uploading a license file.

    • Select Paste License to open the Paste License dialog box, enabling you to modify licenses by pasting licenses.

      Note: You cannot paste licenses in Internet Explorer 11. You must upload the license from a file.

    • Select Clear License to open a confirmation dialog box that verifies whether you want to clear all the installed licenses and their assignments.

    ALM requires that all license keys should be of the same edition. Contact support for assistance if you encounter errors in the following scenarios:

    • The uploaded license file (or pasted licenses) contains keys of an edition that is not installed.
    • The uploaded license file (or pasted licenses) contains keys of multiple editions.
    • The existing license file contains keys of multiple editions.

  5. To add licenses, click Launch Licensing Portal.

    The Micro Focus Licensing portal opens in a new browser, enabling you to purchase licenses.
