New Parameter / Parameter Details Dialog Box

The New Parameter dialog box enables you to create:

  • Input and output component parameters

  • Input and output flow parameters

  • Input test parameters

  • Promote parameters to higher levels, if enabled in Customization

The Parameter Details dialog box enables you to view the details for parameters.

To access

  • Parameter Details dialog box: From a Parameters tab or dialog box, double-click the parameter.

  • New Parameter dialog box: In the Business Components or Test Plan module, select the Parameters tab and click New Parameter.

Tip: You can also access the New Parameter dialog box from:

  • Set Values page. Select the Test Parameters radio button, when available, in the Set Values page and click the New Parameter button.

  • Business Components Module. In the Manual Implementation tab's pane, click the Insert Parameter button and then click the New parameter button.

Important information

Parameters are inserted after the currently-selected parameter.

Parameter values are stored, compared, and processed as characters strings (even if values are specified as numeric or date values).

If automatic parameter promotion is enabled in Customization, and you choose to automatically promote a parameter while creating the component, the Promotion Results dialog box is displayed. For details, see the Promotion Results Dialog Box.

Notes for users of UFT: Parameters for keyword GUI components can be viewed and modified in the Business Component Settings dialog box. In addition, you can insert Data Table parameters and output values to business components, but you can store the values only in the first row of the Data Table. Component iterations are defined for the business process test in ALM and are not affected by the Data Table.
