Run deployment processes

You can run processes in Deployment Automation in several ways.

Not all processes are deployment processes, but for simplicity, running processes is referred to as deploying in this topic. Deployment options are available in both Management and Deployment sections of the user interface. This way, deployments can be done by users with access to only one of these sections.

When you select the Run option, the process wizard is displayed. Depending on the context, some of the options are preselected.

  • In Management, you run processes from the entity which processes you want to run: deployment package, application, component, or global.
  • In Deployment, select and run a process using the Run option in the global menu. Select from the following options:

Application Process This starts the application process wizard.
    Promote Application Process

This starts the application process wizard and lets you select and run a process in the next environment in a pipeline. You can choose only from applications that have a pipeline in them and only from those environments where there are pending pipeline runs.

This is used to continue promotion for pipelines that do not require auto-promote, and the process must already have been run in a prior environment in the pipeline.

Deployment Package This starts the deployment package process wizard.
    Promote Deployment Package

This starts the deployment package process wizard and lets you select and run a process in the next environment in a pipeline. You can choose only from applications that have a pipeline in them and only from those environments where there are pending pipeline runs.

This is used to continue promotion for pipelines that do not require auto-promote, and the process must already have been run in a prior environment in the pipeline.

Component Process This starts the component process wizard.
Global Process This starts the global process wizard.

To run processes from Management, see the following sections:

The procedures are the same for running the same type of processes from Deployment, except the initial navigation and any preselected information based on context.
