Web UI roles and UI security

Web UI roles determine which parts of the Deployment Automation web interface you can access. As an administrator, you can restrict any page or product area.

UI security permissions

To view user interface permissions for a role, navigate to Administration > Security > Role Configuration > Web UI and open the role for editing.

For details on how to change role permissions for each product area, see Create and edit roles.

The following table describes permissions for accessing pages and items in the user interface.

Permission Description
Applications Grants access to the Applications page.
Clean Execution History Grants access to the Clean Execution History action item on the Administration page.
Close Unhandled Approvals Grants access to the Close Approvals action item in the Pending Approval Requests overlay, enabling you to cancel pending approvals.
Component Integrators Grants access to the Component Integrators page, where you can manage component integrators and their pools.
Components Grants access to the Components page.
Configuration Grants access to the Configuration page.
Dashboard Grants access to the Processes overlay.
Deployment Calendar Grants access to the Calendar page.
Deployment Packages Grants access to the Deployment Packages page.
Environments Grants access to the Environments page.
Pipelines Grants access to the Pipelines page.
Processes Grants access to the Processes page, enabling you to view your global processes.
Reports Grants access to the Reports page.
Relays Grants access to the Relays page.
Resources Grants access to the Resources page.
Settings Grants access to the system settings and the Automation administration.
Work Items Grants access to the Approval Requests overlay.

Add members to Web UI roles

Add users to relevant Web UI roles to grant the users access to specific sections of the Deployment Automation user interface.

To add members to user interface roles:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Security.

  2. Select the UI Security tab.

    On the UI Security page, a list of all defined user interface roles is displayed. The following table describes the roles and their default permissions.

    Role Default permissions
    Admin Has all permissions except Clean Execution History and Close Unhandled Approvals.
    Approver Can access Dashboard, Reports, and Work Items.
    Configuration Engineer Has all permissions except Close Approval Requests, Deployment Calendar, and Work Items.
    Deployment Engineer Can access Dashboard, Deployment Calendar, Reports, and Work Items.
  3. Click Add Member next to the role.

  4. In the Add Role Members dialog box, select one or more users or groups and click Add.
