Configure custom JREs for agents

You can configure Deployment Automation agents to use other supported JRE versions.

To add custom JREs, modify the default JRE settings in the supportedJREs.json file in the agent-upgrade directory.

To add custom JREs for agents:

  1. Copy the agent-upgrade directory with all its contents from the web application's location, for example:

    C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\common\tomcat\8.5\webapps\da\WEB-INF\install

to the DA user profile directory, for example:

Note: Every DA server upgrade restores the JRE settings in the web application to default. To make the modifications permanent, you need to store the new JRE properties in the DA user profile directory.

  2. Specify the properties for each of the custom JRE versions, for example:

    {"id":"1", "name":"Azul JRE 8.0.252", "agentFolderName":"azul_jre_8_0_252",
    "jreFullVersion":"Azul JRE 8.0.252", "javaVersionOutputTestLine":"openjdk version \"1.8.0_252\"", "windows64":""}

The following table provides descriptions of the properties:

    Attribute Property
id The ID of a JRE version, for example 1.
Assign unique IDs to each JRE version.
name The name of a JRE version.
agentFolderName The destination directory where you want to install the JRE, for example, azul_jre_8_0_252.
jreFullVersion Custom JRE version name and number,
    for example, Azul JRE 8.0.252.
javaVersionOutputTestLine The output expected from running the custom JRE version,
    for example, openjdk version \"1.8.0_252\".
    windows64, or

A relative or absolute path to a zip file containing custom JRE files for the respective platform, for example,

Note: You can use the following properties as shortcuts to substitute the absolute path to a JRE zip file:

${profileAgentUpgradeFolder} for the web application location,

    ${webAppAgentUpgradeFolder} for the profile location.

For example, instead of this path:

    specify the shortcut:

  3. Add the custom JRE zip file to the agent-upgrade directory.

After you modify the configuration, the new JRE becomes available for upgrade in the user interface. For details, see Upgrade agents.
