What's new in version 23.4

The 23.4 release includes new features and enhancements to browser and mobile testing.

Manual tests on cloud browsers

A new remote view from the Browsers tab enables you to interact with a variety of cloud browsers and to perform manual and exploratory tests. For more details, see Browser lab.

Browser access

When running automated tests, you can now access the cloud browser and debug. This can be done directly from UFT One, or from the new Sessions tab in the OpenText Functional Testing Lab Browser Lab. For more details, see Browser lab.

Session management

The new Sessions tab provides an overall view of current cloud browser sessions. You can also manage sessions from this tab, or access a cloud browser remotely. For more details, see Browser lab.

Cloud browser support & versions

Regular updates and support for new browser versions enable you to perform cross-browser testing on the latest browser versions. Use browser version "latest" to choose the most recent browser version supported by Digital Lab.

You can now also run UFT One tests on Edge and Firefox, in addition to Chrome browsers.

TalkBack accessibility testing

Test on more devices and increase your accessibility testing coverage. TalkBack testing is now supported on a range of models, OS versions, and languages, on both on-premises and hosted private devices. Additional keyboard shortcuts were also added. For more details, see Accessibility testing.

Android audio streaming

As part of your testing flow, you may need to verify that a device is able to play audio. Hear the Android device audio on your PC and test functionality that requires audio validation. This functionality is already supported on iOS. For more details, see Device actions & simulations.

Foldable devices

Foldable devices offer portability and versatility and are increasing in popularity. Now you can connect and test on both hosted and on-premises foldable devices, for increased device coverage.

Currently switching between screens is not supported. For more details, see Supported and certified devices.

Device metrics

To ensure overall app performance, test the impact of your app on device CPU and memory usage. CPU and memory usage metrics during a test run are now also available for unpackaged iOS apps, and are now supported for all Android versions. For details, see Test Options.

ZXing library support

This OpenText Functional Testing Lab release supports an additional barcode scanning framework for iOS. You can now also perform barcode simulation when using the ZXing library. For details, see QR code and barcode simulation.

OS versions

Android 14 and iOS 17 (Mac connector only) are now supported. For more details on connecting iOS 17 devices, see the prerequisites in Install the connector on a Mac machine.

Appium

The Digital Lab embedded Appium v2 server was upgraded to version 2.1.3.

Use the Appium Version capability to run Appium v2 tests. For details on Appium capabilities, see Appium Capabilities.

OpenText rebranding

The OpenText Functional Testing Lab user interface was updated to reflect that Micro Focus in now OpenText.

Deprecated technologies

The following device OS versions are no longer supported:

Android 7.
iOS 11.
