Edit Dimensions CM requests

You can edit the description, attributes, and relationships of Dimensions CM requests in your inbox if the requests are owned by your site. The rules defined in the Administration Console determine whether you can edit a request at any state in its lifecycle.

Note: To edit external requests, use the relevant request provider, for example, Micro Focus ALM Octane or Atlassian Jira.

Edit a request description

You can edit the description of a Dimensions CM request.

PRIVILEGES: Add/edit detailed description.

To edit a request description:

  1. In the desktop client, select a Dimensions CM request in a request list.

  2. Select Request > Edit > Detailed Description.

  3. In your default editor, edit the detailed description, save the file, and exit the editor.

Edit a request action description

You can edit the action description of a Dimensions CM request.

PRIVILEGES: Add/edit detailed description.

To edit a request action description:

  1. In the desktop client, select a Dimensions CM request in a request list.

  2. Select Request > Edit > Action Description.

  3. In your default editor, edit the action description, save the file, and exit the editor.

Edit a request attachment list

For a Dimensions CM request that is owned by your site, your can edit the list of files attached to the request.

PRIVILEGES: Update Request Attachments.

To edit a request attachment list:

  1. In the desktop client, select a Dimensions CM request in a request list.

  2. Select Request > Edit > Edit Attachments.

  3. To change the description of an attachment, double-click its Description field and enter the new description.

  4. To remove an attachment, select its row and click Remove.

  5. To add a new attachment, click Add, or double-click the first empty cell in the Filename column. Enter a filename, or browse to find the file.

    Tip: You can drag and drop files from Windows Explorer.

    Optionally, double-click in the Description field, and enter a description for the attachment. By default, Dimensions CM adds the following description:

    Attachment created <date> by <user ID>

  6. Click OK.

Edit request attributes

Your can set or change the attributes of Dimensions CM requests.

In addition, the attribute update rules defined in the Administration Console determine which attributes you can edit.

PRIVILEGES: Update Request.

Note: When you edit an attribute that is sensitive, which requires an electronic signature, you are required to enter your Dimensions CM password.

To edit request attributes:

  1. In the desktop client, select a Dimensions CM request in a request list.

  2. Select Request > Edit > Attributes.

  3. In the Attributes tab, set the request's user-defined attributes. Attributes in bold are required to action the request. Attributes in italics cannot be modified.

  4. Click OK.

Note: When editing multi-valued attributes for multiple requests, the behavior depends on the setting of the variable DM_DISABLE_MULTIPLE_EDIT_ATTRS. For details, see Administration.
