Create and manage project folders

You can create new folders and move, rename, or delete existing folders in your current project structure.

Create a project folder

Note: This option is not available for streams.

PRIVILEGES: Create Directories.

To create a project folder:

  1. In the My Current Project window, expand the Files and Folders tree.

  2. Select the project folder that will contain the new folder.

  3. Select File > New > Folder.

  4. Enter the following details:

    Field Description
    Parent folder

    The folder that will contain the new folder.

    This field is empty if you select the top-level folder.

    New folder Enter the name of the new folder.
    Track changes with requests

    Enter or select any requests you want to use to track the refactoring operation.

    To use the project's default request, leave this field empty.

  5. Click OK.

Rename a project folder

You can rename project/stream folders in Dimensions CM.

You can also use this option with streams that are locked.

PRIVILEGES: Rename Directories.

To rename a project folder:

  1. In a Project tree, select a project folder.

  2. Select Project > Directory > Rename.

  3. In the Rename dialog box, enter the following details:

    Field Description
    New Name

    Enter the new name of the project folder. The name must be unique for the product.

    Use up to 240 standard file system characters. Names are case-sensitive.

    Track changes with request(s) Enter or select a request to use for tracking the refactoring operation. Leave this field empty to use the project's default request.
  4. Click OK.

Move a project folder

You can move an existing project folder to another location in your project.

Note: This operation is not available for streams.

PRIVILEGES: Create Directories, Delete Directories.

To move a project folder:

  1. In a Project tree, select the project folder to move.

  2. Select Project > Directory > Move.

  3. In the Move Project Directory dialog box, specify the following details:

    Field Description
    Parent Directory Enter the pathname of the new folder, or browse to find the folder.
    Track changes with request(s) Enter or select a request to use for tracking the refactoring operation. Leave this field empty to use the project's default request.
  4. Click OK.

Delete a project folder

You can delete project folders only if they do not contain item revisions and subfolders.

Note: This option is not available for streams.

PRIVILEGES: Delete Directories.

To delete a project folder:

  1. In a Project tree, select a project folder.

  2. Select Project > Directory > Delete.

  3. In the Delete Directory dialog box, verify that you have selected the correct folder.

  4. In the Track changes with request(s) field, enter or select any requests to use for tracking the refactoring operation.

  5. To delete the subfolders of this folder, select Delete directories recursively.

  6. To remove the item revisions in the folder when you delete the folder, select Remove item revisions contained within directory(s) from project.

  7. Click OK.
