Create topic streams

You can create a topic stream from an existing project/stream or request. The topic stream will be a child of the parent stream. The request is automatically related to the new topic stream’s pull request.

To create a topic stream:

  1. In the desktop client, open the stream on which you want to base the topic stream.

  2. In the toolbar, click New, and select Topic Stream.

To create a topic stream from a request, open the request list, right-click a request, and select New Topic Stream.

The New Topic Stream dialog box opens.

  3. Specify or verify the following details:

    Field Description
    Topic stream name

The name for the topic stream.

If you're creating the topic stream from a request, the default name is derived from the request ID. For example, if the request ID is QLARIUS_CR_5 the topic stream name is CR_5.

Parent stream The target stream or project to which work from the topic stream will be merged. The topic stream content will be based on the parent stream.
Request The request to be used to merge changes.
  4. Select an option for the work area when the stream is created:

    • (Recommended) Rehome the current work area to the latest content of the parent stream in the repository.

    • Rehome a specific folder in the current work area to the content in the repository.

    • Create a new work area.

    • Assign a work area later.

  5. (Optional) To give access to your topic stream to other users, click Next and add one or more users or groups.

  6. Click Create.
