Create a baseline scoped by design part
Use this operation to mark a milestone and create a snapshot of a project/stream based on a design part structure.
Caution: Avoid creating more than one baseline at a time. If you create multiple baselines simultaneously, you may corrupt the baselines, and they may not contain the correct data.
PRIVILEGES: Create Baseline.
To create a baseline:
In the web client, select the Baselines tab.
In the toolbar, click New , and select Baseline.
In the New Baseline dialog box, in the General tab, specify the following details.
Field Description Baseline ID Enter a name or label for the baseline. The name must be unique within the product. Type Select a baseline type. The options in this list are set up in the process model. Parent design part
Enter a part specification, or browse to find the design part.
By default, this field is prepopulated.
To include items from all design parts below the parent, select All.
To specify the number of levels in the design part hierarchy from which to include the items, select From Top to Level and enter an integer value.
For example, enter "1" to include only items related directly to the selected design part. Enter "2" to include items related to the next immediate subordinate design part.
Related Requests (Optional) Enter any requests you want to relate to this baseline as In Response To. Define baseline using
Select on what to define the baseline, Requests or Requirements.
Then browse to select one or more requirements or requests whose related items you want to include in the baseline.
The baseline will be related to the request/requirement(s) as In Response To.
Note: The specified requirements or requests only affect the content of the baseline if you have selected a request baseline template. For an item baseline template, the requirements or requests are related as In Response To the baseline and have no effect on the items to be included in the baseline.
Template Release or archive baselines only: From the Template list, select a template. Traverse Relationships
Keep this option selected to include item revisions for all requests related to the listed Dimensions CM requests.
Clear this option if you do not want to include item revisions for Dimensions CM requests that are related to the requests selected by the template.
This option is displayed only if you have selected a request baseline template.
Include item revisions related as Info to requests
Select this option to include item revisions related as Info.
Include closed request
Select this option to include items related to closed requests.
To base the baseline on a different project than the selected one, select a different project.
In the Filter field, you can narrow down the list of projects by name.
If you do not want to restrict the baseline to a specific project, select $GENERIC:$GLOBAL.
To set user-defined attributes, select the Attributes tab and complete any required fields.
