View files in a work area

View files in a work area when you want to see their properties or perform operations related to the corresponding items in the repository.

You can view file contents, compare file differences, and delete files in a work area. You can also deliver file changes in an area to the stream or project in the repository. You can view the files in your current work area or another area assigned to the project or stream.

Note: The file location must be in an area created under Dimensions CM control and assigned to your current project or stream.

Action Description
View the contents of a work area for a project or stream.

  1. In the My Current Projects/Streams tab, in the navigation pane, expand the Work Areas node.

  2. To view the files in your default work area, expand the My Area node.

    To view the files in other work areas assigned to the project or stream, expand the Other node, and expand the node for the area.

    The folder structure for the area is displayed under the area node.

  3. Click a folder to view its files.
View the contents of a file.

  1. Click the file in the content pane. The Open Area File dialog box opens.

  2. Select the Preview tab to view the contents of the file or download a copy.
Update files from the repository.

Select one or more files and click the Update button.

Deliver files to the repository.

Select one or more files and click the Deliver button.

Compare files in an area.

Select one or more files and click the Show Differences button.

Delete files in an area. Select one or more files and click the Delete button.
