Copy existing terminal emulator configurations

Save time by copying an existing terminal emulator configuration from another machine.

  1. Prerequisite: You must have access to your terminal emulator's configuration file (.reg).

Make sure you know the vendor name and the emulator name assigned to the configuration, and the exact name and location of the file. By default, the file is saved in <LeanFT installation>\dat\ and is named <emulator name>.reg.

Note: This registry file will have been saved using the Terminal Emulator Configuration wizard. For details, see Set up LeanFT to work with the terminal emulator.

If you do not have the registry file for the terminal emulator, run the Terminal Emulator Configuration wizard on the computer where the terminal emulator is currently configured. On the final page, click Save terminal emulator settings to file and provide a location to save the file.

  2. Copy and register the registry file

    1. Copy the registry file to <LeanFT installation>\dat on your computer.

    2. Double-click the registry file to open the Registry Editor message box.

    3. When prompted, click Yes to add the information into the registry. A message confirms that the information has been copied into the registry.

  3. Modify settings (optional)

    1. Open LeanFT and make sure the Terminal Emulator add-in is loaded.

    2. Run <LeanFT Installation>\bin\TeConfigurator.exe to open the Terminal Emulator Configuration dialog box.
    3. Select the emulator from the Terminal Emulator list and click Adjust configuration to fine-tune the settings.

Alternatively, if you want to use the copied configuration as a base for your emulator configuration, click Open wizard, select the configuration you copied, and run through the wizard. For details, see Run tests on terminal emulators .

  4. Click OK to save the configuration.

Note: If prompted, restart the Runtime engine.
