Packet Loss monitor graph

This graph shows packets lost during the last second of the scenario run. Packet loss occurs when data packets fail to reach their destination. It can result from gateway overload, signal degradation, channel congestion, or faulty hardware.

Purpose

Helps you understand how many data packets were lost over a specific time interval.

X-axis

Elapsed time since the start of the run.

Y-axis

The following measurements:

  • The percentage of lost packets from all packets that were sent.
  • The number of data packets that were lost over 60 seconds.
  • The total number of packets that were lost.
Note

You cannot change the granularity of the x-axis to a value that is less than the web granularity you defined in the General tab of the Options dialog box.

Tip

For Analysis (not applicable to monitoring graphs):

To view information for a specific location:

  1. Click within the graph.
  2. Select Set Filter/ Sort By from the right-click menu to open the Graph Settings dialog box.
  3. In the Filter condition section, select the Location Name row, and select the relevant location from the drop-down list.

Network Virtualization monitoring

When you enable Network Virtualization for a scenario, you choose the monitoring mode—per group or per load generator. The graph shows the measurements per group or load generator, based on your selection.

If you enabled Network Virtualization per group, check if the total of packet loss for a specific group increased as the scenario progressed compared with other locations. This comparison can help you determine which group experienced the most significant packet loss.

If you enabled Network Virtualization per load generator, and not per group, the graph shows packet loss per load generator machine.
