SiteScope

This section explains how to use the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent to access data from SiteScope.

SiteScope overview

Use the OpenText Core Performance Engineering agent to access data from SiteScope about your applications or the servers on which they are running.

SiteScope collects data from the application servers behind your firewall and sends the data, by means of the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent, to OpenText Core Performance Engineering where it is displayed on the SiteScope on-premises monitor.

Note: A single OpenText Core Performance Engineering agent for SiteScope can only be used in one load test at any time.

Prerequisites

Carry out the following steps to set up SiteScope to work with OpenText Core Performance Engineering:

Before you start:

What to check Details
Ensure that SiteScope is installed and that it can access the servers hosting the applications.

For details about supported versions, see Support Matrix.
Confirm that the machine can access the internet.

If the machine on which you are installing SiteScope cannot access the internet directly, make sure to have your proxy details available. You need this information for configuring the agent.
Ensure that the date and time on the SiteScope machine are correct.

Synchronize your computer clock with an Internet time server.
The OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent port must be set.

An outbound connection from the LRC SiteScope agent to the LRC servers in the cloud is required, on port 443.
The SiteScope machine must be able to initiate a network connection to the machine where you install the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent. Installing both SiteScope and the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent on the same LAN, yields the best performance.

Configure SiteScope

You can create a monitor group for data integration with OpenText Core Performance Engineering.

Tip: For full instructions on configuring SiteScope data integrations, see the SiteScope Help.

  1. In SiteScope, select a monitor group or add a new group and move all your monitors under this new group.
  2. In the monitor group's Properties tab, select a tag or add a new tag to associate with the monitor group.

  3. Go to Preferences > Integration preferences, and add a new data integration.

    • Name. The name for the integration.

    • Receiver URL

      The URL of the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent receiving the data from the SiteScope monitor. This must be a full URL including the server, the host on which the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent runs, and the port number.

      You can choose a port number, but it must be the same as the port number configured in the Monitor tab. The default port value is 443. In OpenText Core Performance Engineering versions prior to 2021.04 where TLS was not supported, the default port was 3000.

      Use the following syntax:

      http or https://<fully qualified domain name of the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent host>:<port number specified in the Data integration port>

    • Reporting Interval. The interval (in seconds) between consequent data reporting by SiteScope to the SiteScope agent. Default: 60 seconds.

  4. As authentication is not supported for this integration, ensure that the Web Server Security Settings and Proxy Server Settings areas are empty.
  5. Verify that Disable integration option is not selected.
  6. Select the tag that you associated earlier with your monitor group.

Install and configure the SiteScope agent

Carry out the following steps to install and configure the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent:

Install the SiteScope agent

Do the following to install the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent:

Get the installation package Download the LoadRunner Cloud banner > Tools and Integrations > Agents area.
Run installation package

On the machine where you want to install the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent, run, as administrator, the installation file (.exe) provided by your Customer Service representative.

Select installation location

By default, the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent is installed in c:\loadrunnerCloud_agent. To install the agent in a different folder, click Options, change the path, and click OK.
Install

Click Install to start the installation of the agent and other required software.

Configure the SiteScope agent

Do the following to configure the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent:

Access the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent configuration tool

When the installation is complete, the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent configuration tool opens.

To skip the configuration at this point, close the tool and configure it later.

Note: OpenText Core Performance Engineering and the relevant monitoring tool are able to communicate only after the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent is properly configured.
General tab

  • Enter a logical name for the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent. This identifier appears in OpenText Core Performance Engineering in the list of available agents. For example, call it SiteScopeOnPrem Agent.

  • Enter your OpenText Core Performance Engineering username/password or client ID/secret key. Tenants created before version 24.3 can authenticate using the username/password or OAuth authentication methods. However, tenants created for version 24.3 and higher may only authenticate with the OAuth method with a client ID and secret key. The preferred and more secure method is to always authenticate with a client ID and secret key, even for earlier versions. For details, see API access keys.

  • Enter your OpenText Core Performance Engineering tenant ID.
Misc tab

  • To use a proxy other than the one shown, enter your proxy URL.

    If your proxy requires authentication, select the Advanced tab to enter your credentials.

    Note: This is necessary only if the agent machine cannot directly access the internet.

  • Enter the URL of the OpenText Core Performance Engineering server. You can copy the OpenText Core Performance Engineering server URL from the address bar of the browser in which you opened OpenText Core Performance Engineering.

    Example: If the URL in the address bar of the browser is https://loadrunner-cloud.saas.microfocus.com/home/?TENANTID=208294383&projectId=1, copy the address https://loadrunner-cloud.saas.microfocus.com.

  • Select a log level.
Monitor tab

Select the SiteScope monitor, and enter the details:

  • Data Integration Port. You can choose the port number (by default 443 from version 2021.04), but it must match the port number configured for the SiteScope data integration's Receiver URL.

  • Use TLS. Beginning with OpenText Core Performance Engineering version 2021.04, by default the SiteScope agent is launched with TLS (Transport Layer Security) enabled. With TLS enabled, the OpenText Core Performance Engineering agent starts SiteScope as an HTTPS server. If you deactivate this option, the agent starts SiteScope as an HTTP server.

    To work with SiteScope as an HTTPS secure server, you must first do the following:

    1. Copy your certificate files, server.key and server.crt to C:\loadrunnerCloud_agent\testexec.server\stormagent\certificates (by default).

    2. Import these certificates to the SiteScope server: Select Preferences > Certificate management > Import certificate. For the host address, enter the IP of the SiteScope agent machine, with port 443.

    3. Indicate HTTPS in the integration preferences: Select Preferences > Integration preferences> Receiver URL and choose HTTPS.

    The SiteScope agent is started with the HTTPS server, and metrics from SiteScope server are sent in a secured protocol.

Note: If you get an error, check that the configuration details that you provided are correct.

Launch the SiteScope agent

Click the Start button on your machine and search for Start LRC Agent.

Add the monitor to the assets

Add the relevant monitor to the OpenText Core Performance Engineering assets. For details, see Monitors.

Update the SiteScope agent

The OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent is the new name for the SiteScope agent.

This section describes how to update the SiteScope agent to the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent.

Action Task
Delete the SiteScope agent that is installed

For reference, back up your current SiteScope agent configuration file:

Delete the whole SiteScope agent installation folder.
Install and configure the OpenText Core Performance EngineeringSiteScope agent

Do the following steps:

  1. Install the SiteScope agent.
  2. Configure the SiteScope agent.

Launch the SiteScope agent

Click the Start button on your machine and search for Start LRC Agent.

Access the configuration tool

If you skipped the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent configuration when you installed/updated it, or if you need to update the configuration settings:

Click the Start button on your machine and search for Configure LRC Agent.

Troubleshooting

To verify that SiteScope data is being received by the OpenText Core Performance Engineering SiteScope agent, check for the following text in the <installdir>/testexec.server/stormagent/stormagent.log file:

"got data from sis"
