Connect a device to a virtual machine

Mobile Center supports hosted virtualization hypervisors.

Certified virtual machines

The following have been tested and verified with Mobile Center:

  • VMWare Workstation 10.0.3. and 11.1.2
  • VMWare ESX server. Certified for server installation only. Devices should not be connected directly to the VMWare ESX machine, but should be connected using a connector on a different (non-VMWare ESX) machine. 
  • Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 R2. Certified for server installation only. Devices should not be connected directly to the Hyper-V machine, but should be connected using a connector on a different (non-Hyper-V) machine.

Connect a device to a virtual machine

Note:

  • Ensure that you are able to set up a virtual USB bus to the virtual machine.
  • Set the network setting of the virtual machine to bridge.

Connect your device as follows:

  1. Connect the device via USB cable. A message is displayed listing the device that you connected.

  2. Establish a connection between the device and the VM USB:

    Select VM > Removable Devices and select your mobile device. Alternatively, you can select the device from the corner of the VM window.

  3. A USB connectivity dialog box is displayed. Click OK to continue.
  4. Verify that the device is connected and recognized:
