Install Mobile Center

You can install the Mobile Center server on either a Linux or Windows machine.

About the installation process

Mobile Center 2.80 can be installed as:

  • A full installation where there is no previous installation of Mobile Center
  • An upgrade on top of an existing installation of Mobile Center 2.70

The installer checks what files are already installed, and installs or updates the relevant files. If you are using an earlier version of Mobile Center, first upgrade to version 2.70.

The server can be installed on either a Linux or Windows machine. For installation instructions, see Mobile Center - Windows Installation or Mobile Center - Linux Installation.

Installation components

When you run the Mobile Center server installation, the following components are installed:

  • The Mobile Center server
  • The Mobile Center connector (automatically configured to work with the local server)

You can also install a Mobile Center connector as a standalone component on a separate Windows, Linux, or Mac machine, and configure it to connect to your Mobile Center server. For more details, see Install the connector on a Windows machine, Install the connector on a Linux machine or Install the connector on a Mac machine.

  • The PostgreSQL database (You can also install Mobile Center by connecting to an external database. Note that Mobile Center 2.80 supports PostgreSQL version 9.60.)

Mobile Center license

Mobile Center comes with a 45-day trial license. After the trial period, you need to install a valid license to continue working with Mobile Center. For details, see Install your Mobile Center license.

Note: As of Mobile Center version 2.20, the licensing model was restructured to provide more flexibility and a new license key was required. Existing customers with active support contracts who did not upgrade to Mobile Center 2.20 and did not acquire the new license key, should obtain their key from Software Licenses and Downloads before upgrading Mobile Center.
