Inject test runs from ALM/QC to ALM Octane

Starting with ALM/QC version 15.5, you can integrate between ALM Octane and ALM/QC, to automatically inject test sets and test runs from ALM/QC to ALM Octane. When a test is run in ALM/QC, a corresponding test suite and test are automatically created in ALM Octane. Test runs are continuously added under these tests and test suites.

This is useful, for example, if you run tests in ALM but manage the rest of your project in ALM Octane.

To inject test runs from ALM/QC:

  1. Configure the integration on the ALM Octane side:

    1. Create a release in ALM Octane that is identical to your release in ALM/QC.
    2. To set up the integration, you must have permissions to access the server. ALM Octane grants this permission with an API access key. For details on setting up API access, see API access.
  2. Configure the integration on the ALM/QC side.

Within ALM/QC, set up the integration as described in the ALM Help Center. For details, see Set up ALM-ALM Octane Integration.

  3. ALM/QC test set results are pushed automatically to ALM Octane.

When a test is run in ALM/QC, a corresponding test suite and test are automatically created in ALM Octane. Test runs are continuously added under these tests and test suites.

  4. Track your suite run results in ALM Octane.

In ALM Octane, the following fields are synchronized with their parallel fields in ALM/QC:

    ALM Octane field ALM/QC field
    External test ID

Test ID as defined on the ALM/QC Details tab.

    Name

Combination of the Test Configuration ID in ALM/QC, and the Test Configuration name of the test.

    Component ALM/<domain>/<project>.
    Package

Path of the test's Name folder.

Testing tool type Type defined in the ALM/QC Details tab.

Once the test results are in ALM Octane, set up test assignment rules to assign retrieved test results to the relevant application modules and ALM Octane users. For details, see Test assignment rules.
