New Relic monitor

This section explains how to use the New Relic monitor. The New Relic monitor provides information on the availability and performance of software applications and the impact on user experience measured by the New Relic Digital Intelligence Platform, an application performance monitoring tool.

Set up the New Relic monitor

  1. Prerequisites

    • For the supported version of the integration, see the Integrations section of the System Requirements.

    • Since New Relic is a cloud-based application, if you use a corporate proxy on your network, you need to set up a web proxy to collect data from it. To do so, on the Performance Center server, open the PCWEB\Web.config file in a text editor, and add the following under the configuration > section of the file:

        <defaultProxy enabled="true">
      <proxy proxyaddress="http://<PROXY_ADDRESS>:<PORT>" bypassonlocal="True" />
  2. Configure the New Relic monitor from the monitor profile

    For task details, see Create and configure monitor profiles.

  3. Specify which resources you want to measure

    Choose the relevant measurements that you want to monitor from the list of measurements that have been defined on the New Relic application.

    For more information on New Relic, refer to the New Relic documentation.

Notes and limitations

  • The New Relic default sampling rate is every 1 minute. This means that data is slightly delayed in arriving relative to other monitors which provide a much more granular data sampling.

  • New Relic is a cloud-based solution, and as a result is more likely to have longer latency. While this might not affect the data flow during the run (due to the 1 minute sampling rate), it will affect the time it takes to fetch data from New Relic when configuring the monitor profile.
