Reinstalling the Data Migrator

If you attempt to install the Data Migrator and the installation fails or if you need to reinstall the Data Migrator, follow the steps in the following sections sequentially:

  1. Uninstalling the Data Migrator

  2. Reinstalling the Data Migrator

  3. Clearing the Cache

Note: If you are installing a new version of the Data Migrator, follow the instructions in Install the Data Migrator. You do not need to uninstall it first.

Uninstalling the Data Migrator

To remove the current installation of the Data Migrator, use the remove programs option in the Control Panel to uninstall PPMDataMigrator.

Reinstalling the Data Migrator

After uninstalling the Data Migrator, follow the instructions in Install the Data Migrator to reinstall it.

  • If the installation is successful, return to earlier sections of this section to perform any necessary tasks.

  • If the installation fails, go to Clearing the Cache.

Clearing the Cache

To clear the cache and reinstall the Data Migrator:

  1. Launch the command window (cmd.exe).

  2. Change the directory in the command prompt to one of the following directories.

    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin

    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin

    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\bin

    Note: The SDK-related directory you have on your computer depends on your computer's configuration. The version of the SDK software might vary from the version noted here.

    If you do not have any of these directories on your computer, download and install the .NET Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) from the Microsoft Download Center at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/.

  3. At the command prompt for the bin directory noted in step 2, type the following command to clear the cache:

    mage -cc

    A message telling you the cache was cleared is displayed.

  4. Reinstall the Data Migrator following the instructions in Install the Data Migrator.
