Configure general information for request types

You can configure general information for request types using the PPM Workbench, or the web UI.

Use PPM web UI

Available in versions: 24.3 and later

Configure general information for a request type from the Request Type Setting page, General tab.

To configure request type general information using PPM web UI:

  1. On the PPM menu, click Open > Administration > Manage Request Types to open the Manage Request Types page.
  2. Click the name link of the request type for which you want to configure or edit the general information. You can use the Search box to quickly find a request type by keywords in the name or description.
  3. On the Request Type Setting page, click the General tab, and then configure the following for the request type:

    Field

    Description

    Request Type Name

    Required.

Enter a name for the request type.

    Enabled

To make the request type available for use, turn on the switch.

    Reference Code

    Required.

Enter a reference code for the request type.

    Request Header Type

    Required.

From the list, select a request header type to use with this request type, or to create a new request header type, click New.

    Description

Enter a description for the request type.

    Meta Layer View

    Required.

The reporting meta layer (RML) contains a database view for each request type, which displays data columns for each field defined for the respective request type. This eliminates the need for a report writer to navigate the generic transactional data model when creating a Demand Management report.

A request type must have a corresponding meta layer view name unique in the system, and that has the format MREQ_<Request_Type_Name>. Use uppercase text strings and underscore characters only.

For details about reporting meta layer views for Demand Management, see Reporting Meta Layer .

    Creation Action Name

    Optional.

If a value is provided, it is displayed in the Most Recently Created area on the Create New Request page instead of the request type name.

    Enabled Copy Request

By default this switch is turned on. The Copy button appears on the request detail page and users can copy requests of this request type.

If you turn off the switch, the Copy button does not appear on the request detail page and users cannot copy requests of this request type from the request detail page. However, the request can still be copied by running the special command.

    Category

From this list, select a category for the request type.

You can use the Validation Workbench to create categories (for example, Sales and Support or General Administration) based on your business needs. The categories you create are displayed on the Create New <Request_Type> page.

    Extension

For request types created for an Deployment Management extension, select the extension from the list.

    Max Fields

From this list, select the maximum number of fields the request type can have. See Setting Request Type Defaults .

  4. Click Save.
