Time sheet policies

This topic introduces what time sheet policies control and how to create time sheet policies.

Overview of time sheet policies

You create time sheet policies to control the creation and operation of time sheets. For example, you can create a time sheet policy to prevent the time sheet submission if no time is logged.

You can designate one time sheet policy as the global time sheet policy. By default, every resource is assigned the global time sheet policy.

You can also assign a different time sheet to a resource. For example, you can apply different time sheet policies to different resources based on their business units or resource types.

When you update an existing time sheet policy, most changes affect only the time sheets that are created after the update. Exceptions are noted in the following sections where applicable.

Define global time sheet policy

By default, PPM sets the predefined time sheet policy as the global time sheet policy. You can create a new time sheet policy and make it the new global time sheet policy.

Before you set the global time sheet policy

Consider the following before you set the global time sheet policy:

  • When a resource is added to your system, by default the resource is automatically assigned the current global time sheet policy.
  • When you set another time sheet policy as the global time sheet policy, the change affects only the new resources.

Set the global time sheet policy

To make a time sheet policy the global time sheet policy:

  1. Click the Administration button in the masthead.

  2. From the Administration menu, click Workbench > Open Workbench on Desktop.

  3. From the shortcut bar, select Time Mgmt > Time Sheet Policies.

  4. In the Time Sheet Policy workbench, click Set Global Time Sheet Policy.

  5. In the Set Global Time Sheet Policy window, the Time Sheet Policy field, select the time sheet policy that is used as the global policy.

  6. Click OK.

The selected time sheet policy becomes the global time sheet policy, and it is automatically assigned to new resources by default.
