Administration tools in standard interface

This topic provides information about the administration tools you can access through the Administration menu.

Prerequisites

To access and use the Administration menu, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You have the Configuration license.

  • You have one or more of the following access grants:

    Access grant

    Permissions

    Sys Admin: Server Tools: Execute Admin Tools

    Lets the user access the server tools in the Administration menu.

    Sys Admin: Server Tools: Execute SQL Runner

    Enables the SQL Runner menu in the Administration menu and lets the user run SQL queries from the web UI. Without this access grant, the SQL Runner menu is unavailable.

    Sys Admin: Server Tools: Execute File Browser

    Enables the Browse Server Files menu in the Administration menu and lets the user browse and download server files. Without this access grant, the Browse Server Files menu is unavailable.

    Sys Admin: Configure Default Page

    Enables the Configure Landing Pages menu in the Administration menu and lets the user configure default landing pages. Without this access grant, the Configure Landing Pages menu is unavailable.

    Sys Admin: Edit Services Schedules Lets users modify any scheduled services in the system.

To access the Administration menu:

  • From the masthead, click the Administration button .

Tools available in the Administration menu

The Administration menu provides tools for you to perform the following administrative tasks:

Task Details
View running server reports, requests, and packages

From the Administration menu, click Report Execution > View Running Reports.

The View Running Reports page opens and lists any reports, requests, and packages currently running.

View running executions
  1. From the Administration menu, click Report Execution > View Running Executions.

    The View Running Executions page opens, and lists any distributions, server reports, requests, or packages that are running in the Summary section.

  2. If any reports are listed as running, click View Running Reports.

View interrupted server reports, requests, and package executions

  1. From the Administration menu, click Report Execution > View Interrupted Executions.

    The View Interrupted Executions page opens and lists interrupted executions (if any exist).

  2. In the list below View Interrupted Executions for a Server Startup, select the date of the interrupted execution to view.

  3. To view the details of the selected interrupted execution listed in the Failed Executions section, click View.

Use the Uncheck Total Number tool

You can use the Uncheck Total Number tool to clear the total number of records displayed on the concerning pages, and thus improve the system performance.

To use the Uncheck Total Number tool:

  1. From the Administration menu, select Demand Management > Uncheck Showing Total Number.

  2. On the Uncheck Total Number page, click Apply for Request Search or Java Portlets of Requests Category.

    Note: Be careful when clearing the Show Total Number of Records checkbox. This batch operation is irreversible.

Create a dashboard data source and a list portlet from SQL statements that run in the SQL Runner page.

Gather information for Software Support Collect information about the current PPM Server node for support.
Generate Java dumps

Generate Java dumps (heap dumps and thread dumps).

Configure and migrate the Document Management System Perform the DMS configuration tasks.
Work with fiscal periods

Generate fiscal periods, add translations of fiscal period names, shift existing fiscal periods, and import and export fiscal periods.
