Browse the menu
This section provides details on how to browse the menu for target pages.
Main menu and administration menu
The following menus are available:
Menu | Description |
---|---|
Main menu |
Available to all users. It provides access to your target pages for running day-to-day activities, such as managing requests and submitting time sheets. You navigate the main menu using side navigation by default. You can use top navigation by turning off the SideNav Menu feature toggle. However, we recommend that you use side navigation as top navigation will be deprecated in a future version. |
Administration menu |
Available only to users with the admin or configuration role and requires specific access grants. It provides options for managing system settings, user roles, access control, and other administrative tasks. You can access the admin menu by clicking the Administration button in the masthead. |
Menu items in both menus are categorized by modules, for example, Project Management and Demand Management.
How the menu looks after upgrade to 24.4
After the upgrade, your menu is switched to the side navigation structure automatically.
-
If you did not customize the menu before the upgrade, the side navigation is applied seamlessly.
-
If you customized the menu before the upgrade, the customizations are merged with the side navigation menu as follows:
Note: Only customizations in the update_menu.xml and delete_menu.xml files located in the content/conf/menus directory are merged with the SideNav menu. Customizations placed in any other directory are not merged with the SideNav menu after the upgrade.
-
The Open, Search, and Create menus are added as top-level menus.
-
The Open menu includes the SideNav menu items, except the Dashboard menu.
The Requests, Portfolios, Global Strategic Themes, What-if Analysis, and Team Management menu items are moved to the related modules under the Open menu, and their customizations are not preserved.
-
The Search menu remains the same as in the top navigation structure, except the Saved Searches item, where you can only save new searches but cannot view previously saved searches. To use the full function, go to the Open > Demand Management > Saved Searches menu.
-
The Create menu remains the same as in the top navigation structure, except the Request item which does not list the previously used request types. To use the full function, go to the Open > Demand Management > Create Request menu.
