Create a staffing profile
This section provides details on how to create a staffing profile.
To create a staffing profile:

Log on to PPM.

Select Create > Staffing Profile from the menu bar.

Complete the fields on the Create a Blank Staffing Profile page.
At this point, you should decide the following:

Whether lines in the staffing profile are counted as workload

Whether to copy positions from an existing staffing profile, and specify the source staffing profile

Whether the staffing profile is linked to an organization unit, asset, project, or proposal

Whether the staffing profile requests resources from a specific resource pool by default, and specify the default resource pool
Field Name
Description
Name
The name of the staffing profile.
Description
A description of the staffing profile.
Manager
The user responsible for the staffing profile
Start Period
The starting period (a fiscal month) for the staffing profile.
End Period
The ending period (a fiscal month) for the staffing profile.
Status
The status of the staffing profile.

In Planning. The staffing profile is under development.

Active. The staffing profile is ready for use.

Complete. The staffing profile has completed execution.

Cancelled. The staffing profile is cancelled.

Lock Down. The staffing profile is locked. It is read-only and cannot be updated.
Region
The geographic region in which the staffing profile is used. The region determines the holiday schedule.
Work Load Category
The category of work being tracked by the staffing profile.
This staffing profile should show as work load
Select Yes to count the Full Time Equivalents set in the staffing profile as actual work assignments in the Resource Management Analyze Assignment Load capacity visualization.
Copy positions from existing staffing profile
Use this field to select a source staffing profile from which to copy positions.
Copy Specific Resources Requested Select this checkbox to copy the specified requested resources from the source positions to the copied positions.
This is a __ Staffing Profile
Defines whether the staffing profile is freestanding, or associated with an asset, org unit, or proposal.
To create a staffing profile for a project, use the Project Overview page. For details, see Create a staffing profile for a project.
Default Resource Pool
Use this field to specify the default resource pool for the staffing profile.
When adding a new position to the staffing profile, the Resource Pool field is automatically set to the default resource pool.

Click Create.

In the Allocations area, do either of the following:
- To create a staffing profile without positions, click Start. You can add positions to the staffing profile at a later time. For details, see Add positions.
- To create a staffing profile with positions imported from another staffing profile, click Select the Staffing Profile to open the Import Positions dialog box. For details, see Import positions into a staffing profile.
Create a staffing profile for a project
This section provides details on how to a staffing profile for a project.
To create a staffing profile for a project:
- Log on to PPM.
- From the menu bar, select Search > Projects.
- Provide the search criteria and click Search.
- Open the project for which you want to create a staffing profile.

In the Staffing portlet of the Project Overview page, click Create a Blank Staffing Profile.
- On the Create a Blank Staffing Profile page, provide or edit the values in the required or optional fields.
- (Optionally) If you want to create a staffing profile with positions copied from another staffing profile, from the Copy positions from existing staffing profile field, select an existing staffing profile.

Click Create.
The newly create staffing profile is displayed under Staffing tab of the Project Overview page.

In the Allocations area, do either of the following:
- To create a staffing profile without positions, click Start. You can add positions to the staffing profile at a later time. For details, see Add positions.
- To create a staffing profile with positions imported from another staffing profile, click Select the Staffing Profile to open the Import Positions dialog box. For details, see Import positions into a staffing profile.
Note: You can view and edit the staffing profile information in the Staffing tab as you do in the Staffing Profile page. The actions listed in the More menus of the Staffing Profile page are not supported in the Staffing tab of the Project Overview page.
Modify staffing profile notifications
Staffing profile managers can receive email notifications when resource requests are forwarded, rejected, or resources are allocated. You can configure which notifications to send to staffing profile managers.
To modify staffing profile notifications:

Open a staffing profile.

On the Staffing Profile page, click More > Configure Notifications.

Select the notifications you want to send.
By default, the Prevent any email notifications regarding this staffing profile option is not selected. Selecting this option makes all the other notification settings unavailable on this page.
This option is intended for staffing profiles linked to confidential projects, preventing any email notifications about the staffing profile from being sent out.
Note: The automatically-generated email notifications cannot be turned off by any original options on the Configuration Notifications page. With this option selected, only users having the appropriate permissions, such as the staffing profile manager, the resource pool manager, and the project manager can view the resource requests after they log on to the system.

Click Save.
