Plan and manage backlog

Typically, you start backlog planning by creating a backlog, adding epics and features, and populating the backlog with work in the form of Dimensions CM requests.

Note: To manage a backlog, you need administrator or backlog owner permissions.

Create a request backlog

As an administrator, you can create a backlog and assign backlog owners. As a backlog owner, you can manage the backlog's content, for example, add, remove, and rank items.

Backlog owners can be changed by an administrator or another owner.

To create a backlog:

  1. On the top navigation bar, select a space from the spaces list.

  2. On the Products page, open the product where you want to create a backlog.

  3. On the sidebar, select Issues > Backlogs.

  4. On the toolbar of the Content tab, click New .

  5. Give the backlog a name and, optionally, summarize its purpose.

  6. (Optional) Assign one or more owners:

    1. In the Owner section, click Add .

    2. In the Search field, enter a string that matches registered PulseUno users.

Move objects between backlogs

You can move epics, features, and requests from one backlog to another.

An object can belong to only one backlog. If you move objects to the target backlog, they are removed from the source backlog. When you move a feature, its child requests are also moved.

To move an object:

  1. On the top navigation bar, select a space from the spaces list.

  2. On the Products page, open the product where you want to create a backlog.

  3. On the sidebar, select Issues > Backlogs.

  4. Open the backlog to which you want to move an object.

  5. If the right panel is not displayed, in the Content tab, click Hide/show the right-hand panel .

  6. In the right panel, select Backlogs.

  7. Select a backlog or search for one by title or ID.

  8. Select an epic, feature, or request and drag it to a specific place in the backlog hierarchy in the left panel.

Tip: A backlog hierarchy automatically expands when you drag an object over it. You can also move objects from the backlog on the left to the one on the right.

Delete epic, feature, or request

You can delete an epic, feature, or request from a backlog.

If you remove an epic that has child features, they are also removed. Any requests contained in an epic or feature are deleted from the backlog and made available to the team.

Note: Removing requests from a backlog in PulseUno doesn't affect Dimensions CM.

To remove objects from a backlog:

  1. On the top navigation bar, select a space from the spaces list.

  2. On the Products page, open the product where you want to create a backlog.

  3. On the sidebar, select Issues > Backlogs.

  4. Open the backlog where you want to delete objects.
  5. Select one or more epics, features, or requests to delete.

You can remove multiple objects only if they are at the same level in the backlog hierarchy. For example, you can select only those requests and features that are at the same level in an epic.

  6. Click Delete.
