Whitelisted IP addresses
Open your firewall to whitelisted IP addresses on the cloud before running a load test.
Note: Allocating IP addresses for IP white listing may require an additional cost.
For details, contact your account manager or sales representative.
Using whitelisted IP addresses
Micro Focus can secure static IP addresses for both AWS and Azure, and allocate these IP addresses to your account. This means that only your cloud based load generators will use the specific IP addresses. This enables you to whitelist the IP addresses in your firewall, thereby enabling inbound traffic from a known source to access your internal application.
By default, one IP address is allocated for each cloud based load generator. This means that at a rough estimate, you would use one IP address for 1,000 Web (HTTP/HTML) Vusers or one IP address for 50 TruClient Vusers.
If you want to emulate IP spoofing, we can allocate multiple IP addresses to a single cloud based load generator. For further details on IP spoofing, see Enable multiple IP addresses.
Opening your firewall to StormRunner Load's cloud components
If you use on-premises load generators or an on-premises SiteScope monitor, you may need to add IP addresses to your firewall to allow outbound connections to StormRunner Load's cloud components.
If your on-premises load generator is behind a firewall include both
22.214.171.124 on the whitelist.
Open a support ticket to request static scheduler and results server IP addresses.
Requesting whitelisted load generator IP addresses
Delay the start of the test
Download a list of load generator IP addresses that have been assigned to your test:
- In the Load Tests > Scripts section of your test definition, delay the start time of all your scripts to give you enough time to add the IP addresses to your firewall.
- From the Results page, click the button and select Download LG IPs to download a complete list of IP addresses assigned to the test run.
Request load generator IP addresses in advance
Do the following to whitelist load generator IP addresses in advance of running your test:
Define the parameters of your test:
Parameter Description Vusers type Type of Vusers (API, UI) Vuser number The maximum number of Vusers for the test Distribution To which regions will you distribute Vusers? Test schedule
What dates are you planning to run the test?
Dates Location Vusers Vuser Type April 1-10 Virginia 500 UI April 1-10 Virginia 1000 API April 1-10 The Netherlands 6000 API April 1-10 Singapore 2000 API
Open a support ticket (select New Ticket > Tenant Management > Allocate White IPs Addresses):
Send your request for whitelisted load generator IP addresses at least one week before the planned test run.
In the request, include the test parameters you defined above.
Once the load generator IP addresses are allocated to your account, support will update the ticket with these addresses.
Caution: When you have an open request with home.software.microfocus.com/myaccount:
You can only use the allocated load generators in your test.
Running a test with more Vusers or on other regions will cause an error.
If you plan to generate a client side breakdown report using Micro Focus Analytics, request an additional IP address.
View the whitelisted load generator IP addresses:
Click your user name and select Download Whitelisted IPs.
From a test's Results page, click the button and select Download LG IPs to download the complete list of IPs assigned to the test run.
Note: If you are running a test with on-premises load generators, the Download LG IPs option is disabled.
You cannot use Azure locations for a tenant configured with whitelisted IP addresses for scheduler and result servers.
