Log on to and off a server
This topic describes how to log on and off a StarTeam server and how to open a project.

To log onto the server and open a project:

Check Save As Default Credentials For This Server to save your default credentials for this server configuration as this user name and password. This name will then appear in parentheses after the server configuration name in lists.
The New Project Wizard or the Open Project Wizard displays allowing you to create a new project or work on an existing project.
Note: StarTeam user credentials are stored in Windows Credential Manager Store. You can edit and remove the credentials from Control Panel > Credential Manager.

Log on using SSO / Multi-Factor authentication
This section describes how to log on to the StarTeam server using single sign-on (SSO) or Multi-Factor authentication. If Single Sign-on/Multi-Factor authentication was enabled in the StarTeam server configuration to which you are trying to connect, the client will automatically display the SSO authentication page.
To log in using SSO/MF authentication:
- Click Start > Programs > Micro Focus > StarTeam Cross-Platform Client <version> on Windows or on Linux. Open the console, navigate to the extraction folder starteam-<language>-<version>-java/bin, and type
./StarteamCPC
. - Select Project > New or Project > Open. You are automatically redirected to a default system browser for single sign-on/multi-factor authentication.
- Complete the first and second factor authentication (as configured on the StarTeam server). You will then be redirected back to the StarTeam Cross platform client. The login to StarTeam server is complete and the user now has access to all the projects on the server.
Once logged in using SSO, the session remains active as long as the browser window instance is open, so there is no need to re-authenticate until the session times out. The default value of SSO session timeout is 1 hour. This value can be configured using the StarTeam server administration tool.
Note: Session cookies must be enabled on the web browser and be allowed to be saved.
To disable Single sign-on authentication, select the Disable Single Sign-on authentication check box in the server properties in the StarTeam Cross Platform client. This allows logins via the standard password-based authentication.
