Configure the IBM CICS TG agent

This task describes how to configure the IBM CICS TG agent.

Note: The IBM CICS TG agent is an early access feature. For more details, see Early access features.

The IBM CICS TG agent is used to virtualize communication between an instance of the CICS Transaction Gateway and an application under test that uses the IBM CICS TG SDK libraries to integrate with it. The underlying CICS TG protocol is TCP based.

The IBM CICS TG agent will act as a virtual CICS TG endpoint. The tested applications need to be reconfigured to communicate directly with the agent. Then the agent either forwards the traffic to the real CICS Transaction Gateway during pass-through (Standby mode) or recording (Learning mode), or simulates the response. The communication is always forwarded to the real CICS Transaction Gateway if it does not belong to any of the deployed virtual services. For more details, see Create a Virtual Service.

  1. Prerequisites

The supported integration scenario is an application under test that uses the CICS TG SDK libraries to communicate with the real CICS Transaction Gateway.

  2. Configure the agent settings

From the main menu, select Tools > Options. On the Agents Page, select IBM CICS TG and click Add. Define settings for the new configuration. For user interface details, see IBM CICS TG agent settings.
