Starting and stopping Service Virtualization

This section explains how to start (and stop) the Service Virtualization applications. For more details on each component, see Installation.

Starting Service Virtualization on Windows

This section describes how to start the various components of Service Virtualization on Windows.

Service Virtualization Designer From the Windows Start menu, select Service Virtualization Designer.
Service Virtualization Server

Do one of the following:

  • Start the Server as a Windows service: From the Windows Start menu, select Start Services of Service Virtualization Server.

  • Start the Server as a standalone console application: From the Windows Start menu, access Service Virtualization Server.

Note: The Service Virtualization Server can be configured as either secured or unsecured. To prevent unauthorized access, it may be configured as secured. For additional details and configuration information on the Service Virtualization Server, see Authenticate the SV Server.

Service Virtualization Management

To start the Service Virtualization Management service:

On the Service Virtualization server machine, from the Windows Start menu, access Service Virtualization Management.

This starts both the Service Virtualization Server service and the Service Virtualization Management service.

Starting and stopping Service Virtualization on Linux

This section describes how to start the various services of Service Virtualization on a Linux machine.

Service Virtualization Server service

To start and stop the Service Virtualization Server service:

To: Installed as a service (RPM) Run from command line (TAR)
Start the service:

systemctl start sv-server

sv-StandaloneServer

Stop the service:

systemctl stop sv-server

Press Enter or Ctrl-C

Service Virtualization Management service

To start and stop the Service Virtualization Management service:

To: Installed as a service (RPM) Run from command line (TAR)
Start the service:

systemctl start sv-svm

sv-ServiceVirtualizationManager

Stop the service:

systemctl stop sv-svm

Press Enter or Ctrl-C

Accessing the Service Virtualization Management interface

This section describes how to open the Service Virtualization Management interface in your browser.

Open a browser window and enter one of the following URLs:

Service Virtualization Management

https://<Service Virtualization Server IP or hostname>:<Service Virtualization Management port>

By default, the Service Virtualization Management port is 6086.

Service Virtualization Server <Service Virtualization Server IP or hostname>:<HTTP/HTTPS port number>/management
