Use the Functional Testing Agent for Microsoft Edge

Note: For the most up-to-date list of supported versions of Microsoft Edge, see the Unified Functional Testing Product Availability Matrix.

UFT communicates with Microsoft Edge via the Microsoft WebDriver to test Web applications running in Edge browsers. However, you must ensure that the Microsoft WebDriver is present in the UFT installation folder:

  1. From the Microsoft WebDriver page, download the correct version of the WebDriver for your Microsoft Edge version.

Note: We recommend updating the WebDriver version after performing Windows 10 updates, as specific WebDriver versions are required for each Edge version.

  2. Copy the downloaded WebDriver .exe file to the <UFT installation folder>\bin directory.

  3. Rename the downloaded file to MicrosoftWebDriver.exe.

  4. Start the Edge Agent for Functional Testing from one of the following:

    • The desktop shortcut

    • Start -> All apps ->Micro Focus > Micro Focus Unified Functional Testing -> Edge Agent for Functional Testing

    • In the Record and Run Settings dialog box, select Edge as the Browser type

Note: UFT cannot spy, record, or run tests on an Edge browser window opened before UFT.
