Working with recent versions of SAP GUI

When working with recent versions of the SAP GUI environment, you may need to perform the following additional steps:

SAP GUI environment versions Notes about these versions

740 and higher

If items in the Server Description list are missing:

  1. Add the following environment variable to your machine: SAPLOGON_INI_FILE
  2. Set the variable value to the path of the saplogon.ini file. This file can be found in the %appdata% SAP folder on computers with SAP GUI version 730.
  3. Ensure that the server you want to use is added to the SAP GUI Logon dialog box, using the exact server name.

Missing saplogon.ini file

The saplogon.ini file is not provided with SAPGUI versions 750 and higher, and is replaced by the SapLogonTree.xml file for storing server information, which is not supported by UFT.

To avoid errors in UFT, do the following:

  1. Locate a copy of the saplogin.ini file from a previous version of SAP GUI, and copy it to your SAP GUI 750+ machine.
  2. Connect to your SAP GUI server in the Record and Run Settings dialog using the saplogon.ini file. For details, see SAP Tab (Record and Run Settings Dialog Box).
750-750 patch 2

When opening the Solution Manager Connection dialog box, or saving a test in integration mode, UFT may display an error about finding the librfc32.dll file. This file is found in the SAP GUI installation directory.

If this error occurs, do one of the following:

  • Add the librfc32.dll file location to the PATH environment variable
  • Copy the librfc32.dll file to the <UFT installation folder>\bin directory
750 patch 3 and higher

The librfc32.dll file is no longer delivered with the SAP GUI environment.

  1. Locate the librfc32.dll file from a previous SAP GUI installation, versions 750 patch 2 or lower.

  2. Then, do one of the following:

    • Add the librfc32.dll file location to the PATH environment variable
    • Copy the librfc32.dll file to the <UFT installation folder>\bin directory
