Enable the Micro Focus UFT Agent extension on Google Chrome
UFT One communicates with the Micro Focus UFT Agent Chrome Extension to test Web applications running in Google Chrome. This topic describes how to install and enable the extension in your Chrome browser.
Note: If you have the Functional Testing Agent for Google Chrome installed, you may need to manually remove this extension before enabling its new version, the Micro Focus UFT Agent extension. When you complete the set up, make sure you have only the latest extension installed.

Browser extension versions
Chrome versions 95 and later support working with Manifest V3 extensions, which will eventually be the mandatory type of extensions when working with Chrome.
The Micro Focus UFT Agent Manifest V3 extensions are available online and in the UFT One installation folder: <UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\v3.
The Manifest V2 extensions are available as well, for use on older browser versions or for troubleshooting: <UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\v2
Prerequisite
Your browser policy must allow you to install browser extensions. Otherwise, see Enable extension installation in your browser policy.
Automatic Chrome updates enabled
If you have automatic Chrome updates enabled, the extension installation depends on whether you have an Internet connection.

Active Internet connection |
If you're connected to the Internet, the Micro Focus UFT Agent Chrome extension is automatically downloaded from Chrome web store and installed the first time you open Chrome after installing UFT One. |
| Inactive Internet connection |
Without an Internet connection, Chrome attempts to download the Micro Focus UFT Agent Chrome extension from Chrome web store and install it each time you open Chrome. |
After downloading, Chrome prompts you to enable the extension.
Automatic Chrome updates disabled
If you do not have automatic Chrome updates enabled, install the extension as follows:

Install and enable the Micro Focus UFT Agent extension from the Chrome web store.
Note: Before installing, make sure the extension version matches your UFT One version. The Agent for Google Chrome is not available via search of the Chrome web store. |

Install the extension manually from the UFT One installation folder.
If dragging the extension to Chrome does not work, do the following:

Install the extension manually from the UFT One installation folder. Follow the instructions for Inactive Internet connection, but use the extension from this folder: <UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\v2 |

Enable UFT One to test applications with strict Content Security Policies (CSPs)
To test a web application, UFT One must communicate with the application, including JavaScript injection. In some cases, applications block this ability. For details, see Testing applications with strict Content Security Policies (CSPs).
Enable UFT One to test local HTML pages in Google Chrome
By default, the ability to run extensions on local HTML files is disabled in Google Chrome. Do the following to allow the UFT One Google Chrome extension to run on local HTML files:

In Google Chrome, browse to the following URL: chrome://extensions

Locate the Micro Focus UFT Agent for Google Chrome.

Click the arrow
located to the left of the icon to expand details about the extension.Select Allow access to file URLs. Your selection is automatically saved.

UFT One 2021 R1 Patch 1 provides a Manifest V3 extension.

The earlier, Manifest V2, extension is available in the <UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\ folder.
In UFT One 2021 R1 Patch 1 you can use this extension for older browser versions or for troubleshooting.

After downloading, Chrome prompts you to activate the extension.

Install the extension manually as follows:

Select Tools > Extensions in Google Chrome to open the chrome://extensions page.

Drag the Agent.crx file from the relevant folder into Chrome's Extensions page:

UFT One 2021 R1 Patch 1, using Chrome 95 and later:
<UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\v3

UFT One 2021 and 2021 R1, or when using Chrome 94 and earlier:
<UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome

If dragging the extension to Chrome does not work:

Select Tools > Extensions in Google Chrome to open the chrome://extensions page.

In the Extensions page, select the Developer mode option. Additional options are displayed after you select this option.

Click on the Load unpacked button.

In the Browse for Folder dialog, browse to and select the relevant folder:

UFT One 2021 R1 Patch 1, using Chrome 95 and later:
<UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\v3\Extension

UFT One 2021 and 2021 R1 or when using Chrome 94 and earlier:
<UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome\Extension

In the Confirm New Extension dialog, click Add when prompted.
The Micro Focus UFT Agent is now displayed in the Chrome extensions list.
Google Chrome versions 67 and earlier

If you have a previous version of the UFT One Agent for Google Chrome installed, manually remove this extension.

Open the Chrome folder included with the UFT One installation: <UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome.

Select Tools > Extensions in Google Chrome.
Note: You can also access this page by opening the chrome://extensions page in Google Chrome. The Extensions page opens.

From the <UFT One installation folder>\Installations\Chrome folder, drag the AgentLegacy.crx file to the chrome://extension page.

In the Confirm New Extension dialog, click Add to install the extension.
The Micro Focus UFT Agent for Google Chrome is now displayed in the Chrome extensions list.
Enable UFT One to test local HTML pages in Google Chrome
By default, the ability to run extensions on local HTML files is disabled in Google Chrome. Do the following to allow the UFT One Google Chrome extension to run on local HTML files:
