New XML Data Source Dialog Box

Relevant for: API testing only

This dialog enables you to add new XSD or XML data sources to the Data pane.

To access

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Ensure that an API test or component is in focus in the document pane.
    • In the solution explorer, select an API test or component.
  2. Create or open a test or component.
  3. Select View > Data.
  4. Click on the New Data Source down arrow and select XML.

UI Element

Description
Data source name

The display name of the data source. If no name is specified, it uses the file name.
Based on

The file on which to base the data table:

  • Schema file. A file with an XSD extension.
  • XML file. A file with an XML extension.
  • Use existing. An existing data resource created within another test. Since this data source is referenced, changes made to it are reflected in all tests using the data source.

Use the Browse button to navigate to the desired location.
