Web Tab (Record and Run Settings Dialog Box)

This tab enables you to set options that instruct UFT One which applications to open when you begin to record or run your test.

You can instruct UFT One to open and record on applications from more than one environment. You can also create steps on more than one browser tab, if your browser supports tabbed browsing.

To access

Select Record > Record and Run Settings and select the Web tab.

Important information
  • If you have the Add-ons Manager enabled and set Firefox to open to a specific URL, Firefox does not open to the specified URL at the beginning of a recording or run session.

Workaround: Disable the Add-ons Manager before using Firefox.

  • If you are using an Internet Explorer embedded browser control, register your browser control. For details, see Register browser controls.

To record and run tests on an application with embedded Web browser controls, select Record and run tests on any open Web browser.

You can instruct UFT One to ignore ALM browsers or other browsers that are open to a specified URL or have a specific title. For details, see Web > General Pane (Options Dialog Box).

Open the following when recording or running:

Specify the browser and web application to open when recording or running a test:

  2. Define the URL to open, the OS, the browser, the browser version, and location.

Some version options are described as follows:

For the list of supported versions, see the Digital Lab (UFT Mobile) Support Matrix.

UFT One versions 2021 R1 and earlier:

If you are using Windows 11, do not select the Internet Explorer browser options, as Windows 11 does not support these browsers.

UFT One versions 2021 R1 and later:

If you select Google Chrome Emulator, the Device list displays a subset of all supported devices, based on the definitions in the EmulatedDevices.xml file.

You can customize the list by editing the EmulatedDevices.xml file:

  • To add a hidden device type to the selectable list, set that type's show_by_default attribute to True.

  • To support a device type used in your tests but no longer officially supported and listed in the .xml file, add all the device information to the EmulatedDevices.xml file.

For details, see Configure your emulated devices.

Parameterize runtime web settings

Enable to use parameters for the browser, device, and manufacturer for a given test run.

For more details, see:

UFT One automatically adds columns to the Global tab of the Data pane or a test parameter, depending on the option selected.

Note: This option is not displayed if you select to use a cloud browser.

Do not record and run on open browsers

Instructs UFT One not to record or run tests on any browsers that are already open prior to the start of the record or run session.

Selecting this option also prevents you from viewing the properties of these browsers using the Object Spy.

Note: This option is not displayed if you select to use a cloud browser.

Close the browser when the test closes

Instructs UFT One to close the specific browser tab launched at the start of the test when the test closes.

For headless browsers such as Headless Chrome or Phantom JS, this closes the headless browser process launched at the start of the test.

Note: This option is not displayed if you select to use a cloud browser.
