Extending UFT object identification

Relevant for: GUI tests and components

UFT One uses an object's description properties to locate it in an application, and then maps these properties to a test object type.

UFT One provides numerous types of test objects across many technologies. However, there are times when UFT One cannot locate or learn an object in your application.

For example:

  • UFT One does not support the technology, or the technology version

  • UFT One cannot uniquely identify the object

  • UFT One identifies the object at too basic a level, such as identifying a table control as a general Object

In cases such as these, use one of the following methods to create test objects, and by extension meaningful functional tests:

Alternatively, use Artificial Intelligence-based testing. For details, see AI-based testing in UFT One.
