Browser description properties

Object description properties can be used in the object repository description, in programmatic descriptions, in checkpoint and output value steps, and as argument values for the GetTOProperty and GetROProperty methods.

The Browser test object supports the description properties listed in the table below.

Property Name

Description

abs_x

The object's absolute x-coordinate (left) relative to the screen (in pixels). 0,0 is always the top-left corner of the (primary) monitor.

If you are working with multiple monitors, the coordinate in the secondary monitor is relative to the primary monitor.

For example, given a resolution of 1280 x 1024 in the primary monitor, if the secondary monitor is positioned to the right of the primary monitor, the x-coordinate is 1280 or greater. If the secondary monitor is placed to the left of the primary monitor, the x-coordinate is negative.

abs_y

The object's absolute y-coordinate (top) relative to the screen (in pixels). 0,0 is always the top-left corner of the (primary) monitor.

If you are working with multiple monitors, the coordinate in the secondary monitor is relative to the primary monitor.

For example, given a resolution of 1280x1024 in the primary monitor, if the secondary monitor is positioned below the primary monitor, the y-coordinate is 1024 or greater. If the secondary monitor is placed above the primary monitor, the y-coordinate is negative.

application version

The browser's version.

creationtime

The ordinal identifier that UFT One assigns to the browser to indicate the order in which the browser was opened relative to other open browsers with an otherwise identical description.

This property cannot be used with GetROProperty.

browser_identifier

Identifies the browser application.

Optionally, add this property to the object’s description properties to run the test on the specified browser instead of the one defined on the Mobile tab of the Record and Run Settings dialog box.

Possible values: 

  • com.hp.HPMobileWebBrowserINJ - the Digital Lab (UFT Mobile) browser application on an iOS device.

  • com.hp.mobileweb - the Digital Lab (UFT Mobile) browser application on an Android device.

  • MC.Browser - the browser app on a mobile device (Chrome on Android, Safari on iOS).

Caution: Add this property to the object’s description properties only if you have UFT Mobile or Mobile Browser selected in the Use field of the Web tab.

If you have Local Browser or Cloud Browser selected and you run a test with objects defined with this description property, unexpected results may occur.

device_manufacturerThe manufacturer of the device on which the browser is running.
device_modelThe model of the device on which the browser is running.
device_ostypeThe OS type of the device on which the browser is running.
device_osversionThe OS version of the device on which the browser is running.

HasMenuBar

Indicates whether the menu bar for the object is visible. This property is only available for Internet Explorer.

Possible values:
    True
    False

HasStatusBar

Indicates whether the status bar for the object is visible. This property is only available for Internet Explorer.

Possible values:
    True
    False

HasToolbar

Indicates whether the toolbar for the object is visible. This property is only available for Internet Explorer.

Possible values:
    True
    False

height

The object's height (in pixels).

host

Identifies the application’s host.

When the host is a mobile device, the value requires a prefix of mobilecenter: followed by the device's Unique Device Identifier (the Device UDID). For example: mobilecenter:a1904d91

Optionally, add this property to the object’s description properties to run the test on the specified device instead of the one defined on the Mobile tab of the Record and Run Settings dialog box.

Caution: Add this property to the object’s description properties only if you have UFT Mobile or Mobile Browser selected in the Use field of the Web tab.

If you have Local Browser or Cloud Browser selected and you run a test with objects defined with this description property, unexpected results may occur.

HWND

The browser's Windows 32 handle.

Note: This property is supported only for Internet Explorer and for Firefox versions earlier than 57.

index

The ordinal identifier that UFT One assigns to the object to indicate the order in which the object appears in the code relative to other objects with an otherwise identical description. This property cannot be used with GetROProperty.

location

The ordinal identifier that UFT One assigns to the object to indicate where the object appears within the window, frame, or dialog box. Values are assigned from top to bottom, and left to right. This property cannot be used with GetROProperty.

name

The object's name.

number of tabs

The number of currently open tabs in the browser.

OpenTitle

The object's initial title when first opened.

OpenURL

The URL from which the object is first opened.

OpenedByTestingTool

Indicates whether the object was opened by UFT One. This property is only available for Internet Explorer.

Possible values:
    True
    False

title

The browser's title.

Top_level_hwnd

The browser's Windows 32 handle.

Note: This property is supported for Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers only.

version

The version of the browser control. For a list of supported browser versions, see the UFT One Support Matrix.

visual relations

Represents the test object's visual relations identifier.

Use this property in GetTOProperty and SetTOProperty steps to return or apply a VisualRelationsCollection object for a test object. The VisualRelationsCollection object enables you to retrieve or replace the visual relation identifier settings of a test object during a run session.

Syntax:

SetVRIColl = TestObject.GetTOProperty("visual relations")

TestObject.SetTOProperty "visual relations", VRIColl

This property is not listed in the Object Spy. It is not retrieved when you use the GetTOProperties method. It cannot be used in the Object Identification dialog box, the description area of the object repository, checkpoint or output value steps, and so on.

width

The object's width (in pixels).

WindowContext

The browser content type, determined by the context in which the browser was opened.

Note: This property is relevant only when working in the Siebel Test Automation environment with the Siebel Add-in loaded.

Possible values:

  • Web: The browser does not contain a Siebel application.

  • Application: The main browser that contains the Siebel application.

  • Popup: An additional popup browser that is part of the Siebel application and opened from the main browser, for example, a picklist.
