Configure unique test object descriptions for a test object class
Relevant for: GUI tests and components
If you find that the description OpenText Functional Testing uses for a certain object class is not sufficient to create unique test object descriptions for all or several objects from a particular test object class, you can change the properties that OpenText Functional Testing learns when you record on objects from the problematic class and/or you can define a Smart Identification configuration so that OpenText Functional Testing can uniquely identify your objects even when the number of objects with similar descriptions changes between the time you create and run your test or component.
For details on changing the properties OpenText Functional Testing learns when you record, see Object Identification Dialog Box.
For details on configuring Smart description properties, see Smart identification.
Note: Changing the way that OpenText Functional Testing learns objects does not affect the properties of objects already saved in the object repository. You still need to manually modify the object properties in the Object Repository or perform an update run operation to update them automatically.
