Remote Connection Pane (Options Dialog Box > GUI Testing Tab)

Relevant for: GUI tests and components

This pane enables you to define options that control the security of OpenText Functional Testing's communications over remote connections. This is relevant when setting up a remote connection to a Mac computer during a run session, or when using the Remote Connection option (available when you click the ALM Connection down arrow in the OpenText Functional Testing toolbar).

Access the Remote Connection pane

Select Tools > Options > GUI Testing tab > Remote Connection node.

Define remote connection security settings

Define the following security settings:

Note: The settings in this pane must match the preferences defined for OpenText UFT Agent Safari extension on the Mac computer.

Passphrase

Specify the passphrase to use for authentication when initiating a remote connection to the Mac computer.

Note:

  • This string must match the passphrase defined in the preferences of OpenText UFT Agent Safari extension on the Mac computer.

  • The passphrase can be empty, but a long and complicated passphrase provides better security.

SSL CA certificate file

Specify the path to the CA certificate used by OpenText Functional Testing to validate the SSL certificate file received from the OpenText UFT Agent Safari extension after initiating a remote connection to the Mac computer.

  • The CA certificate file must be accessible to OpenText Functional Testing when it sets up the connection.
  • Certificate bundles are also supported.
  • The CA certificate file is only relevant if SSL is used for the remote connection. This is specified when the connection is initiated by selecting the Use SSL option, available when you configure the remote connection.

The SSL certificate file and SSL private key file must be specified in the OpenText UFT Agent Safari extension's preferences on the Mac computer.
