Inject test runs from ALM/QC

Starting with ALM/QC version 15.5, you can automatically inject test sets and test runs from ALM/QC. When a test is run in ALM/QC, a corresponding test suite and test are automatically created in OpenText Core Software Delivery Platform. Test runs are continuously added under these tests and test suites.

This is useful, for example, if you run tests in ALM but manage the rest of your project in OpenText Core Software Delivery Platform.

To inject test runs from ALM/QC:

  1. Configure the integration on the OpenText Core SDP side.

    1. Create a release that is identical to your release in ALM/QC.
    2. To set up the integration, you must have permissions to access the server. This permission is granted with an API access key. For details on setting up API access, see API access.
  2. Configure the integration on the ALM/QC side.

In ALM/QC, set up the integration as described in the ALM Help Center. For details, see Set up ALM-OpenText Core Software Delivery Platform Integration.

  3. Test set results are automatically pushed from ALM/QC.

When a test is run in ALM/QC, a corresponding test suite and test are automatically created in OpenText Core SDP. Test runs are continuously added under these tests and test suites.

  4. Track your suite run results in OpenText Core SDP.

The following fields are synchronized with their parallel fields in ALM/QC:

OpenText Core SDP field ALM/QC field
    External test ID

Test ID as defined on the ALM/QC Details tab.

    Name

Combination of the Test Configuration ID in ALM/QC, and the Test Configuration name of the test.

    Component ALM/<domain>/<project>.
    Package

Path of the test's Name folder.

Testing tool type Type defined in the ALM/QC Details tab.

After the test results have been retrieved, set up test assignment rules to assign the results to the relevant application modules and users. For details, see Test assignment rules.
