Fill in fields automatically

You can create autofill templates that help you fill in new items with predefined field values.

Example: In a data set for a user story, you can include a list of tasks in the Tasks to generate field. Those tasks will be automatically created in every story that you create using this data set.

To save an autofill template:

  1. Create a new item.
  2. In the Add <item> dialog box, fill in the form with the field values that you want to repeat, such as the Application module, Team, and Environment tags.
  3. In the toolbar, click the Save as template button .
  4. Enter a name for the template.

  5. Select whether you want to share the template. Choose one of the following options:

    • Share with all: The template is available to all users in your workspace.

    • Share with teams: The template is available to all members of the selected teams.

  6. Select Set as default to use the template as the default for all new items of that type. The next time you create a new item, the template is automatically applied.

To use a template:

  1. Create a new item for which a template exists.

If you previously defined a default template for that item type, the template loads automatically in the Add <item> dialog box.

  2. If you do not have a default template, in the toolbar, click Choose Template and select an available template. The fields are automatically populated with the template values.
