Trace requirements

Define traceability links between requirements to view associations and dependencies.
Requirements traceability overview
Requirements traceability defines a relationship between two or more requirements. When you analyze the impact of a change in a specific requirement, traceability links indicate other requirements that the change might affect.
You can add traceability links to and from a selected requirement.

Trace From links indicate requirements that affect a selected requirement.

Trace To links indicate requirements that are affected by a selected requirement.
Add requirement traceability
Define a relationship between two or more requirements.
To add requirement traceability for a requirement:

In the Requirements module, open Details view and select a requirement.

In the Requirement Traceability > Relationships tab, select one of the following options from + Add Trace.
Option Description From Requirements Tree Displays the requirements tree in the right pane so you can add traceability links from the requirements tree to the selected requirement. Click +Add To and select an option:
Add to Traceability (Trace From): Adds selected requirements to the Trace From grid.
Add to Traceability (Trace To): Adds selected requirements to the Trace To grid.
By ID (Trace From) Opens the Trace Existing Requirement dialog box, enabling you to add a traceability link to the Trace From grid by entering a requirement ID. By ID (Trace To) Opens the Trace Existing Requirement dialog box, enabling you to add a traceability link to the Trace To grid by entering a requirement ID. -
To analyze the impact of requirement changes by reviewing relationships, open the Requirement Traceability > Impact Analysis tab.
This tab displays requirement associations and dependencies in a hierarchical tree.
Recursive Relationship: The same requirement participates more than once in the relationship.
