Start Desktop Client using ALM Client Launcher
This task describes how to launch Desktop Client on your machine using ALM Client Launcher. You can work with multiple versions side-by-side on a client machine.
Prerequisite:
Install ALM Client Launcher. For details, see ALM Client Launcher.
To Start Desktop Client using the launcher:
Follow the steps below to start the desktop client with ALM Client Launcher.

Enter your URL in your browser.
http://<server name/IP address>[<:port number>]/qcbin
. Contact your system administrator if you do not have the correct URL. -
For Single-Sign-On users:
- If the user discovery page is displayed, add your user name or email address as specified in ALM. Click Submit.
- In the IDP page, add your IDP credentials. Click the log in button.

In the qcbin page, click the Desktop Client link.

If you already have ALM Client Launcher installed, click Open ALM Client Launcher in the confirmation dialog box.

If you did not install ALM Client Launcher, from the download page, select where to download it, from Marketplace or from the server, and click Download. Save the download file and run it.

In the login page, provide the following information:
User name Enter your username.
Not available for Single-Sign-On users.
Password Enter the password assigned to you by your site administrator.
Available from 16.0.1: You can click and hold the eye icon (
) next to your password to show it in plain text.
Not available for Single-Sign-On users.
Forgot Password If you cannot remember your password, click link to reset your password. For details, see Reset your password
Not available for Single-Sign-On users.
Automatically log in to my last domain and project on this machine Select check box if you want to automatically log in to the last project in which you were working.
Not available for Single-Sign-On users.
Authenticate Click to verify your user name and password. The domains and projects you can access are based on your account.
If authentication fails, check that your user name and password are correct and try again.
Note:

If authentication fails multiple times, your account can be locked. The number of authentication attempts you are allowed is determined by your site administrator. For details, see Lock and unlock users.

Domain Select a domain. By default, the last domain in which you were working is displayed. Project Select a project. By default, the last project in which you were working is displayed.
Login The target project opens, displaying the module in which you last worked during your previous session.
If you are inactive for a period of time, your session expires. You have to log out, log in again with your password, or log in again without providing the password, depending on how your site admin determines the session reconnect mode (using the FAST_RECONNECT_MODE parameter).
