What's new in 12.53

This section provides an overview of the features that were introduced or enhanced in 12.53.

ALM Updates

Update Field Value for Multiple Records

The Update Selected dialog box now enables you to update multiple field values in a grid or a tree at once.

When updating required fields, you can set the BULK_ACTION_IGNORE_REQUIRED_FIELD site parameter to ‘Y’ to bypass checking that required fields are valued before performing an update of multiple entities.

For details, see Search, replace, and update data.

Global Search Enhancements

  • You can install Global Search on Windows. For details, see ALM Global Search.
  • You can now enable and configure Global Search from Site Administration. For details, see Global Search.
  • You can now search for data on multiple projects.

Editions: Cross projects search is not available for Quality Center Enterprise Edition, Quality Center Community Edition, or Quality Center Express Edition.

For details, see Globally search data.

Memo Field Enhancements

You can now add attachment links to text in memo fields. For example, Description and Comments. For details, see Work with attachments.

Email Message Enhancements

When sending emails about tests from the Test Plan module, you can now include design step attachments in your message. For details, see Send email about entities.

Business Models Module Enhancements

Business Models module now enables you to import models from ARIS 9.8. For details on Business Models module, see Business process models.

You can retrieve or modify selected entities by iterating through the list. For more details on Workflow, see Desktop Client workflow customization.

Business Process Testing Updates

Create Test Configurations for Business Process Tests with the Test Combinations Generator

You can now automatically generate test configurations for your business process tests using UFT's built-in Test Combinations Generator.

Instead of manually creating multiple combinations of data for the parameters in your tests—a potentially time-consuming process—instruct UFT to generate all the combinations based on a number of different algorithms. Supported algorithms include linear, pairwise, or triplewise combinations.

For details, see Generate combinations for test configurations.

Support for LeanFT in OpenText Application Quality Management Using Business Process Testing

LeanFT automation testers can now use data management capabilities in OpenText Application Quality Management, such as:

  • Test configurations

  • Business Process Testing input/output parameterization

  • Iterations

The run of LeanFT tests and business process tests containing LeanFT components can be initiated from within OpenText Application Quality Management. Detailed HTML reports are generated that include both Business Process Testing information and the results of the LeanFT tests.

For more details, see the following table.

The worlds of pure software and the world of Things are becoming the standard within many industries, as well as rooted deeply into the consumer’s lifestyle.

With the emerging industries of IoT, ALM introduces a whole new way to manage quality: Quality Of Things (QoT), a new manual test execution client for online and offline scenarios.

ALM QoT enables you to:

  • Run manual tests online while connected to ALM
  • Run manual tests offline on environments where network connectivity is limited and upload results when reconnected
  • Run tests using your Android mobile device or your Windows computer without the need to download the ALM client.
  • Install it in one easy step.

For details, see ALM QoT.
