Change system settings

Update system settings to set values and preferences that work best for your implementation of Deployment Automation.

To modify system settings:

  1. In Deployment Automation, navigate to Administration > System and select the System Settings tab.

The system settings are displayed in view-only mode.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. In the System Settings dialog box, update the following settings as needed:

    Setting Description
External Agent URL URL for agents to access the Deployment Automation user interface.
External User URL URL for users to access the Deployment Automation user interface.
Only Groups in Security Roles When this setting is enabled, individual users cannot be granted any permissions. All permissions must be granted to groups.
Default security group The security group that external users are associated with when users are auto-registered.
Automatic Version Import Check Period (seconds)

The time (in seconds) between polls for new versions for all components that have this option turned on. You must restart the server to enable the setting.

We do not recommend to set the time period to fewer than 15 seconds.

Mail Server Host Host name of the mail server for notifications. To disable notifications, leave it empty.
Mail Server Port SMTP port for email notifications.
Secure Mail Server Connection Select this option if the SMTP connection should be secured.
Mail Server Sender Address The "from" email address for email notifications.
Mail Server Username The username for sending email notifications.
Mail Server Password The password for sending email notifications.
Days to Keep Versions The number of days to keep component versions. Use -1 to keep versions indefinitely.
Number of Versions to Keep The number of versions to keep for each component. Use -1 to keep all versions.
Archive Path The path to which to write a zip file containing the artifacts of each version cleaned up. If you don't need the archives to be written, leave it empty.
Minimum password length The minimum length of passwords allowed to be created.
    Require complex passwords

If this option is selected, the server validates new passwords created through the user interface or from a command prompt to ensure the password is complex.

To pass validation, a password must include 2 of these character classes: uppercase, lowercase, digits, and special characters. It must be as long as, or longer than, the password minimum length.

Automatic license management If this option is selected, the server automatically assigns new agents to open license slots.
Allow conflicting name for agents If this option is selected, the server automatically adds suffixes to conflicting agent names to allow an agent to connect to the server.
Enable property picker Enables property indexing and property picker suggestions.
Allow repeat request Enables the repeat request button.
  4. Click Save.

To preview the component versions to be archived the next time an archive file is created, click Preview Version Cleanup.
