Search and replace text in items
You can search for items by text they contain, and replace text in items. When you replace text in an item, the item is updated and a new revision is created.
Search for text in items
You can search for specific text that items in a project/stream contain.
To search for text in items:

In the desktop client, select Edit > Find > In Files.

In the Find What field, enter your search string.

Limit the items to search:

To search only items in a folder, enter a folder name in the In Project Folder field.

To search only items related to a particular request, click Advanced, and enter a request specification in the Related Request field.

To search only items in a particular design part, enter a design part specification in the Related Design Part field.

To further limit the search, set values in the remaining controls in this dialog box.

Click Find.

In the Find in Files Results dialog box, select one or more items.

To display the selected items in a content window, click New Window.

To close the Find in Files Results dialog box, click Close.
Replace text in items
You can search and replace text in one or more items. To replace text, you need the Update Item Content privilege.
To search and replace text in items:

In the desktop client, select Edit > Find > In Files.

In the Find What field, enter a search string.

Select the Replace with option and enter the replacement string in the field.

Limit the items to search:

To search only items in a folder, enter a folder name in the In Project Folder field.

To search only items related to a particular request, click Advanced, and enter a request specification in the Related Request field.

To search only items in a particular design part, enter a design part specification in the Related Design Part field.

In the Comment on Extract field, enter the reason for the text replacement.

Click Find. The Find in Files Results dialog box displays the modified items. The items' revision numbers are changed according to your process model rules.
