Create and manage project folders

You can create new folders and move, rename, or delete existing folders in your current project structure.

Create project folder

To create a folder in your project, you need the Create Directories privilege.

Note: This functionality is not available for streams.

To create a project folder:

  1. In the My Current Project window, expand the Files and Folders tree.

  2. Select the project folder to contain the new folder.

  3. Select File > New > Folder.

  4. Enter the following details:

    Field Description
    Parent folder

    The folder to contain the new folder.

    This field is empty if you select the top-level folder.

    New folder Enter the name of the new folder.
    Track changes with request(s)

    Enter or select any requests to use for tracking the refactoring operation.

    To use the project's default request, leave this field empty.

  5. Click OK.

Rename a project folder

You can rename project/stream folders to reorganize their structure. To rename folders, you need the Rename Directories privilege.

You can rename a folder even if it's located in a locked stream.

To rename a project folder:

  1. In a Project tree, select a project folder.

  2. Select Project > Directory > Rename.

  3. In the Rename dialog box, enter the following details:

    Field Description
    New Name

    Enter the new name of the project folder. The name must be unique for the product.

    Use up to 240 standard file system characters. Names are case-sensitive.

    Track changes with request(s)

    Enter or select any requests to use for tracking the refactoring operation.

    To use the project's default request, leave this field empty.

  4. Click OK.

Move a project folder

You can move folders in a project. To move a folder, you need the privileges Create Directories and Delete Directories.

Note: This functionality is not available for streams.

To move a project folder:

  1. In a Project tree, select the project folder to move.

  2. Select Project > Directory > Move.

  3. In the Move Project Directory dialog box, specify the following details:

    Field Description
    Parent Directory Enter the pathname of the new folder, or browse to find the folder.
    Track changes with request(s)

    Enter or select any requests to use for tracking the refactoring operation.

    To use the project's default request, leave this field empty.

  4. Click OK.

Delete a project folder

You can delete folders from your current project when you no longer need them. To delete a project folder, you need the Delete Directories privilege.

Note: This functionality is not available for streams.

To delete a project folder:

  1. In a Project tree, select a project folder.

  2. Select Project > Directory > Delete.

  3. In the Delete Directory dialog box, verify that you have selected the correct folder.

  4. Specify the following details:

    Field Description
    Track changes with request(s)

    Enter or select any requests to use for tracking the refactoring operation.

    To use the project's default request, leave this field empty.

    Delete directories recursively Select this option to delete the subfolders of this folder.
    Remove item revisions contained within directory(s) from project Select this option to remove the item revisions in the folder when you delete the folder.
  5. Click OK.
